Pixel Art Feature Chest / Re: Time for some help: My Minecraft texture pack
« on: February 12, 2011, 10:07:09 pm »
This pack seems to be coming along nicely, but if I'm correct, you are making a higher def texture pack than the default? I play on a laptop, so I don't feel that I'd be able to use your texture pack  :'( But that doesn't mean I don't have a few suggestions(read: nit-picks) for your pack. Firstly, your stone is very cartoony and segmented, making it look a bit cobblestone-y, and also clash with your more realistic other tiles. I have no idea what that mostly gold thing is above the door(looked it up. That's your monster spawner?). The bark left of the birch looks a lot like planks to me. Some of the wool have fancy designs/gold on them, and the others don't   ??? ? Your flint doesn't look like it could possibly be used to make those flawless arrows. Your tools look very nice, but I like to think of the gold tools as the overly ornate tools, which is a personal thing I guess, but they aren't as durable as iron, so I feel they should at least have looks going for them. Then your diamond tools are overly ornate, which I don't argue with, they just have a lot of gold on them, which only cements in my mind that the gold should be ornate. Then in seeming contradiction to that, your watch is far too ornate for my tastes, feeling like it should be on display somewhere instead of in an adventurers pocket, and also clashing with the compass, which is crafted in a similar manner. But I do want you to know that it does look very nice, I hope you finish it, and the parts I disagree with are just my personal tastes. Also I apologize for this ridiculously long post, I hope you have found it helpful. If not, I apologize again for wasting your time.

Challenges & Activities / Re: Tzigla Rocks!!!

Well, I would get a tile, but it would probably look out of place next to, you know, the good tiles. But I do wish some more people would grab these tiles, as I would really like to see the outcome of this project. It could come out looking very... I guess groovy would be the word? Psychedelic? Trying to mash up the surrounding tiles while still being original would make the end product look... unique, to say the least. So come on, people! Grab a tile!

General Discussion / Re: Read the Rules, then introduce yourself here.

Yes. Hello. Greetings.
I am Gemini166. A lot of people on online games just shorten it down to Gem, which amuses me as my name is not Jim. I tweeted at Junkboy asking how to get more better at pixelly stuff. I've downloaded the program he recommended, and now am registering here as he said. I am a super beginner, so forgive extreme n00bishness if you can find it in your heart to do so. If you can't, just critique every little detail of every little mistake I make until I am no longer a n00b. Then everyone wins! :P Aaaanyways, I suppose I'll hang out here for a while and try to hone my skillz of teh pixel, until I have the power to use fairly few pixels but still get the point of what I am making across. And maybe even after that, so as to help those who are then like I am now. It has been fantastic meeting you, and I looking forward to hanging out on the forums.  ;)

Pixel Art / Sprite Practice (C&C Appreciated)
« on: November 30, 2010, 06:02:32 am »
MASSIVE EDIT: As Tourist said, C&Cing so many dudes would be insanity. I don't know what I was thinking. So instead of posting again, I edited this post. To practice making sprites with Xtremeworlds (which uses 32x32 sprites with only two frames of animation), I have chosen a well known character and made animations for him walking in each direction.

C&C is much appreciated. And yes, he is taller in the side animations for one frame by one pixel. This is because the front/back animations go pretty much from left step to right step, and the side animations go from kind of regular standing to kind of ambiguous step. Also, I don't know if I should animate his hat in the walking upwards or how to do it or what, so I kept it still.
