Not really a fan of Zelda games that weren't on the original 3 Nintendo consoles, but this piece is so beautifully done.  I only have one small niggle and it's that the pink one has more contrast in his shades than the others.  Am noticing it more on their stomachs.  Is not a problem at all though and the picture looks great.

I don't think it's too many colors at all since they all seem to be used pretty well (as in there aren't any really similar shades that are just wasteful).

He's not got a very good grip on the pipe.  He looks like he's just this second lost the grip and is bout to fall anyway.  Dunno if that's intentional but if not you could just add an extra line of his fingers onto the top of the bar.  Right now it just looks like it's pasted over him and that he's not actually interacting with it.

He don't look like he's gonna fall too far.  He'll land on your palette there I reckon.

Cute lil pic.

ok what the hell, I did one.  It ain't animated or anything.  I mainly did it for some more Amstrad CPC practice as am working on games for the old machine and need to practice the wide pixel mode some more as am to used to using its 4 color 320x200 resolution.  This portraits based on an old pic of me cos I currently have really short hair that's so freakin' boring to draw.

http://www.gamemaker.nl/

That is a good program to work with for making games, seeing as it has drag and drop for beginners, but adds a great deal of depth for extended use, even into 3D games.

Yup, thats what me and my group at http://eocommunity.co.uk/index.php use.  And a great deal of my most played PC games of the last few years were made with it too.  New version of it is out soon,  GM7.0, and it's extremely cheap to register if ya wanna unlock everything but still highly usable if you prefer not to register at all.

EDIT: grrrr useless freakin' host went down.  Always does when I show people... piece of crap.

I don't usually do line art when pixelling but I got a request a while ago for a lineart of one of the Eagle's Nest portraits so I made one working backwards I guess.  Reckon I may as well post it here if anyone else wants to take a shot.

Were you reminded of Lemmings because it features a level with Beast artwork/music?

There was a lot of that.  I seem to recall Walker appearing in one of the Lemmings games too (most likely Lemmings 2 The Tribes but I could be totally wrong about it all.. I know Menace was referenced for sure in one game).  And the Lemmings themselves appeared as much larger sprites in one of my all time favorite games Hired Guns as vicious scratchy gits that you could just mow down with a chain gun sorta thing or chuck grenades down into the Lemming pit.  Also remember that Hired Guns game allowed you to pixel your own characters and use them.  There would be me spending ages creating some cool mech type thing to go with CIM and CIM-Lite in the required four directions and sizes... and then my friend would just use a blank page therefore rendering him totally invisible to all... cheating bastard.  Especially since we used to use two screens (monitor in the usual socket, and the TV into the built in modulator of the A1200) and cover opposite halfs on each with cardboard.  I could never tell where he was until a saw a grenade appear in the air out of nowhere and bang I'm dead...

Hmm, sorry bout that... was getting swept down memory lane a bit.  Glorious Amiga days...

Never got the whole 'Dodonpachi is great' thing.  Always found it to have incredibly mediocre gameplay and mostly bland (in my opinion) artwork.  Boring.

Shadow of the Beast on the other hand, despite not being that much fun to play and at times showing some badly dated pixelling has always captivated me with it's sort of dark fantasy otherworldly atmosphere (which is also greatly helped by the sound effects and music) and was a big influence on me at school.  I haven't had the same sorta feeling from any 3D title I've ever played.  An associate of mine showed a screenshot from his 'Beast Reborn' remake project a while back and he's a decent pixeller too.  Ain't heard from him in a while though and I can't find the pic on my PC.  Oh yeah and it's actually an influence on one of my current projects too (which I ain't shown anyone yet cept for some basic engine stuff... and won't show until I've got the atmosphere and graphic style the way I want it)

The animated intro to Shadow of the Beast 2 is still one of the creepiest things I've seen in a game.

I abhorred Donkey Kong
I loved Mario bros.
I loved Super Mario Bros.
I loved Super Mario Bros. 2
I loved Super Mario Bros. 3
I loved Super Mario World
I loved Super Mario World 2: YI
Mario 64 was the best game in history, without any possible equal. It's inspirees, however (Crash bandicoot, Spyro, etc.), sucked horribly.
I HATED Super Mario Sunshine.
I'm undecided about SMG.

Personally thought while Mario 64 was 'groundbreaking' for being a decent 3D platformer, it still didn't play anywhere near as well as Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island.  Found it very mediocre much like New Super Mario Bros.  I've given up on Nintendo.  Found it hard to find anything I've loved of theirs since before 1996 (with the possible exception of Metroid Zero Mission)

Yeah, I have that. It's a lot of fun, but for some reason parts from that game and parts from Link's Awakening blur together in my mind. So when thinking of it I'm really thinking of Link's Awakening, and the other way around. I enjoyed Link's Awakening a lot, but not unlike Minish Cap I got stuck at a part and haven't played it since. In fact, I'm gonna dig it out when I get home. Thanks for reminding me.  ;)

I found Link's Awakening actually fairly easy (still just love playing it over and over despite that) and have finished it many times on a real Gameboy and on emulation (I play it with my PC connected to the big TV and set to stretch to max just to have super chunky Link).  It's a sweet lil ending that is one of my all time favorite moments in video games.  Also gets a lil extra thing if you finish it without dying at all on that save file (as in if you die just reload, do not continue).  Just occurs to me that I've not finished the DX version before.  That'll be my task then for the next couple weeks or so.  Am curious if they added anything to the ending like that have ingame (the extra dungeon and the photographs being the most obvious extras)

The 3D Zelda games on N64 are generally considered to be the best Zelda games to date.

Not by me they ain't.  I loathe the N64 Zelda's, especially OoT, with a passion.  Just recently got rid of my 2nd cartridge (was bought in a bundle of other carts originally and first cartridge of it I had smashed few years back) of it on ebay.  I still love Link to the Past though my all time favorite Zelda is easily Link's Awakening on the original Gameboy.  Is the only game I've ever played where I really got involved with the lil story and it just has so much charm which was totally lacking for me in OoT.  And I get severely pissed off when I read comments like in Retro Gamer that state if someone doesn't like OoT they must be lying.  Cos god forbid anyone has a different opinion...

Anyways just wanted to post and say nice to see 'Pixelation' up now.  Decent skin too.  That's pretty much all I had wanted to say.
