I think the main problem with these attacks is that there's not enough "oomph" behind them. They're very obviously a punch and a kick, which is good, but they lack that same kind of power that an actual punch or kick would have simply because you seem to be too scared to draw a completely new pose for certain frames (or at least, that's how it comes across). To make an animation with such an "extreme" feel as an attack, you can't be afraid to draw in plenty of movement between frames.

I made a quick edit to your punch to show what I mean

The two biggest problems I saw with yours were the overall lack of movement in the character throughout the animation, and the lack of any kind of "snap" or "oomph" in the punch, it feels more like he's just pushing his arm out there instead of throwing an actual punch.
Regardless, this is a nice start and I'd love to see how far you're able to take these animations. :)

I made some tweaks to the face too, but I'll definitely try what you mentioned, I've recently uh
I guess, """gained""" enough of an attention span to try studying these things, so I'll definitely try another runthrough of the face after getting a better grasp of facial structure and all that nonsense

To export something out of graphicsgale with transparency, you need to click the "..." button on the frame in the toolbar and choose the color you want to make transparent

I love the style you've got going here!

took a crack at editing this, hope you don't mind

got rid of a few colors that I felt didn't really need to be there and just kinda made small chances everywhere else. I tried to keep the style of the original sprite in tact, hopefully that's still there haha

sorry for the double post but i think i've cleaned up enough to do so

also i forgot to comment on this:
the character still seems an anomaly to me, since beards usually signify "i don't give a fuck" and a more natural, honest vibe whereas the character looks like a hipster (are those shudda shades?) who really cares about how he comes off. but maybe this is intentional, and maybe i'm just misinterpreting the character.
the character's beard is actually a sort of "ironic" beard
like
ironic in the way only a hipster can pull off. (which is really impossible to explain with only the sprite but oh well!!)


still gotta give him abs and really touch on that whole area
the chest and (his) left arm and leg are /pretty much/ done though

hats really bugging me now that i look at it again, probably gonna have to reshade that

i'm kind of iffy on removing the 4th shade, mostly because the reason it was added in the first place was because he's so much bigger than the other characters and i felt it worked better with another shade but i guess I can still try
