2D & 3D / Re: Victorian girl

I maybe spelled my thoughts little incorrectly. What I meant was that when holding a rose atleast I find her upper palm (I'm not sure if it's left or right :P) bended oddly. In that situation her palm should be kinda relaxed and almost straight, not tensed in almost 90 degrees angle.

I actually see that now. Her wrists are bent back making her knuckles almost facing the camera. This would make sense, but her elbows are bent out too far for that to be comfortable. Try it, try making your arms point at each other and then bend your wrists back. It's almost painful (unless somehow my wrists are really un-flexible).

All the parts of the body are the same value, maybe try darkening the parts that are farther away. Should be a simple improvement.

Actually, now that I look closer, the pose looks like her lower body is facing toward the camera and the rest is only slightly pointed to the side.

...Okay, what?

He's probably really young and new to pixel art, look at his last few posts.

I think the problem is that the limbs never bend. All of them just swing back and forth, with the legs moving slightly up when stepping forward. I can see a bit of a bend in the legs, but with a sprite this small it should be more obvious.

All the colors feel a little... beige. Not in the hue, but in spirit. There's no life to them. I'm not sure how to fix it without going bright neon, but that's something you should look into.

First, all the regions are very messy. Metal has smooth shading, and any pixel art should have organized shading. It looks like you just drew over it with a brush tool and never really refined it. Also, look at references for shading. Round objects have shaded regions that conform almost exactly to their shape, like this-

But the first thing you need to do is just clean it up.

There's a few weird things going on with the shadows. First, the table's shadow makes it look like the light source is directly above its front (blue line), but the light from the monitor should pass under it a considerable amount (red line), seeing how they're on about the same level. So the shadow from the table should start at the green line, and the legs should have shadows that extend to that point. Also, the angles of the light coming from the monitor are inconsistent (picture at top right). Either make the left one completely horizontal or rotate the right one out a bit. And there should be shadows on the back corners of the table.

While starting small is a good idea for new learners, you may be starting too small. Having to fit an entire character into an area that small requires a lot of shortcuts and fancy tricks that take a while to pick up, so I'd recommend you go with simpler, larger images, such as 32x32 tiles or something like that.

As for those sprites, the first thing you should do is eliminate the black outlines. In a sprite this small every pixel counts, and the outlines frankly waste a lot of that space. It could also do with some shading, even if you have to stray from your color limit. What really confuses me is that the only part that is shaded is the shoes, which are maybe the least important part of the character. You could use a solid color for those and put another on the body, or even use their highlight as a shade for the skin.

I liked a lot this coloring, but there is one problem with the hand coloring, it seens a little of to me, try mantaining the darker shades over the fingers letting the orange color only, i think it will look a little better. Or you could change the forth color to a less contrasting, i think it will do too.
