Portfolios / Re: Experienced Pixel Artist

Looking for more work

as a graphic (artist you) don’t need to know anything else I suppose. And I think I’ve already said too much.
That might be the case if someone was working for upfront pay, but as a profit share project I would expect to know everything about the game. From concept to production and a detailed run down of how you intend to promote the game once its finished.
Anyone taking on a profit share before finding that out is asking for trouble.

Portfolios / Experienced Pixel Artist - With Published Games
« on: December 24, 2014, 06:28:35 pm »
Hi,
Freelance Pixel artist here looking for work.

I’m happy to work on all sorts of pixel based projects, small to large and back again. I would love to work on a full project but don’t hesitate to contact me if you just need an extra pair of pixel hands to polish up a project.

I specialise mainly in environmental art but I’m happy to take on sprites if the needs arise. Whilst I am mainly looking for paid work I might consider working on a profit-share if I really like the look of the game and I sense potential in the team.

Just to show that I have completed work for various games within the indie scene, here are a few of my more recent projects.

My latest role is working as the lead artists for Poncho. A game that has just picked up a publisher.

In addition to that I also worked as the environmental artist for the game Freedom Planet. They ran a very successful Kickstarter campaign and have also been Greenlit for Steam…

I’ve also been working on my own game with a programmer

In between doing freelance pixel work for other people’s games I often spend my time designing little games for the iPhone and working on smaller projects of my own . You can find more examples of my work here...

I might be interested in teaming up for some projects.
I've actually been looking for a dedicated programmer to maybe finish up a few of my projects as well.

I have a Dev Log of all my ongoing artwork over at TIGForums.

Job offers / Re: [paid] top down 2D aircraft art + background for mobile
« on: November 30, 2012, 04:22:37 pm »
I am not sure how long it will take, but I can't imagine more than a hour or 2
Unfortunately something like this is going to take a lot longer than 2 hours. How long will depend on the artist but you might want to consider increasing the budget.

Job offers / [paid] Seeking Sprite for Game Prototype
« on: September 27, 2012, 04:35:16 pm »
I’m working on a game and I need a single animated sprite
to do some tests with. I’m a pixel artist myself but I focus on tile and
background work as animation isn’t really a strong point of mine, so I’m
turning to the community here for help (paid of course).

The sprite needs to be 64x64 and have a simple walk
animation in the directions of North, South and West. Maybe an attack animation
as well if the price is right.

The style would have to match this map here…

The game itself is essentially a board game like chess
where you move pieces about the board but when I updated the graphics I wanted to
have the pieces come to life. With that in mind I would love to maintain the
blocky/chunky nature of most playing pieces, something easily identifiable from
just its silhouette.

As for what I want the playing pieces to look like. I
would love it if people could take inspiration from some of the early concept sketches
for Shadow of the Colossus, organic creatures with a mixture of natural rock/minerals
and almost mechanical sections.

If anyone things they’re up to the task then feel free to
send me some examples of your work along with quotes (matwek@hotmail.com).

I’ll do my best to reply to all emails but if I get a
large response I may not have the time, at the very least I will update this
topic when I’ve found someone.

But I do agree that color and atmosphere wise the game look quites stunning in a few areas, which will be hard to achieve with pixel art, since it relies a lot on smooth gradients and glowing effects.
WHy not just apply the same effects to the pixel art. You can get some really cool effects if you mix mediums.

Im afraid I would have to agree, I usually work $5 per 32x32 tile and thats for the lower quality stuff.

Heres a small sample of some of my work for if you do think about changing the budget, my email should be on there somewhere as well.

Sonic Gemini (Level Artist)
Following concept sketches and direction from project leader I created the level art for a one level demo of a Sonic fangame. Whilst the demo itself was incomplete and buggy the art was 100% complete (sprites and background weren’t created by me).

(Pulse Man sprite in the last screenshot isn’t mine)

Whilst the majority of my portfolio is heavily based on Mega Drive/Genesis era Sonic games I am capable of producing different styles if requested. I will also often do sample pieces for potential clients.
I have worked as part of a full-time team as well as on a freelance basis. I am very professional and have a selection of clients that use me on a regular basis that would be able to provide references’ if needed.
