Yeah it does look backwards, I'm guessing it can be fixed in shading; When you were referencing the hand were you looking at your own hand in front of you? if so you're thumb is closer to you, but if you look at that from the opposite side, your thumb would be farther from the viewer, and in shadow. Though i'm sure you know that already, but i'll point it out anyway.

The leaves do seem a bit on the weird side. I think its your shading that is throwing them off. Right now, they look like tubes that are stuck on and with even round shading from top to bottom, tree's however dont work like that. I remember spending hours of classes drawing trees in school because of how complex they are. I'm attaching a pic of a few break downs on a tree i sketched up really quick to try and show you what could be done to improve it. The image on the far right was used for reference from here: http://etc.usf.edu/clipart/4300/4392/oak-tree_1.htm

Could you provide some more context for what kind of background this is? what you're trying to accomplish? it may help in critiquing.

My try:

I think in yours there isn't enough space between the eyes. the head is too small/neck too long. its a good start though.

Its nice, right now there is very little contrast between the subject and the background though, there is actually a lack of contrast over the whole image.

i put him up on different background and upped the contrast of the character. It makes it a lot easier to see him.

Only other comment i have is that the horn looks like a silly party hat, and that is why he has the mean look on his face. as if he is upset someone stuck this hat on his head...

The hips are better. the leg positioning is still to spread out though.

I tried drawing some guide lines and and using the reference image you picked to try and show where the major differences between your pose your model are.
Hopefully this will help you see what may need improvement

First note would be that as far as perspective, all your reference shots are in different perspectives, which could be throwing you off. Also about the feet position, i still think they need to be apart, try standing in the position that you have your character in and see if that is comfortable, I tried, it wasn't.

Perhaps if you give yourself a floor for them to stand on rather than the plain single color background that can help, you'll be able to see how the bodies look standing on a surface rather than floating in space.

I really like the latest edit, looks much improved . I just have a question about the door though. It looks REALLY big compared to the tiny sprites you have. Any reason why the sprites are so tiny, and the world so big?

The legs look to far apart, check at where your center of balance is and the Contra-Posto (hip and shoulder displacement).

"The body is drawn with an uneven weight distribution.
For a stationary body to remain standing, its weight must be balanced. Often,
beginning artists will forget this basic truth when they learn to draw people.
For example, if you draw people standing with their weight on one foot,
the shoulder line and the hip line can never be parallel; otherwise, the figure will fall over."

I think what is making it look weird is that your shadows/light source dont match up. you have dark shadows on "south" wall while you have shadows being cast by the "north" wall. Also, the "poles" are casting no shadow. I think that is why most people are seeing holes, and not walls.
