Love the theme, love the genre!

I'd be interested in doing some work for you.
My area is in 2D sprites/animation/tiles.

Hi,

Like the concept of an open world to roam around in. Guess we could expand it later and if it works out.
I'd be up for doing tilesets and whatnot.

« on: June 08, 2016, 05:56:10 pm »
Hey friends,

Wow, haven't posted in ages. I thought some of you might enjoy some pixelated platform action, old school style!
We're a three man Indie company from Finland. Thy Sword is our second game and is now live on Steam Greenlight!

Would sure appreciate your help!

Play the demo right here http://www.gamephase.net/download/629/

Trailer:

Thy Sword is an action rpg platformer in a fantasy setting. It draws inspiration from Norse mythology, Conan the Barbarian and great games like Golden Axe and Moonstone.
Play the game in single player or co-op mode, or engage in player vs. player combat.

"This is the land of Nhaastans.
You, bold adventurer, must break the tyranny of the Dark Overlord.
Your quest will be to obtain the ancient runes of power
with which to overcome the Dark Overlord's rule.

Can you be that hero?
Can you fulfil the destiny of greatness and bring deliverance
to these shadowed lands? The answer lies in your heart
...and Thy Sword!"

Features:
-An action rpg platformer
-Single player or co-op mode
-Player vs. player combat
-Procedurally generated levels
-Environments like forests, mountains and caves
-Different weapons and items, spells and enchantments
-Many types of challenging enemies and bosses
-Steam achievements and unlockable content
-Beautiful pixel art & animation
-Chip music created using the legendary SID (Commodore 64)
-Loot!

About the resolution and scaling...

The game is made in the resolution 240x135. Everything is drawn in this resolution and then scaled up to fill the entire screen with nearest neighbor scaling. Scaling 8x will result in FullHD (1980x1080), for other resolutions the pixels can vary a little bit in size but we decided that it is better to fill all screens (aspect ratio is kept of course).

We are purists when it comes to pixel graphics so we don't want to mix resolutions. The cover image we will use for Steam Greenlight is the only image so far that has mixed resolutions, we had to do that otherwise the characters would be too small.

The color palette is limited also, we don't have strict rules for this but the graphic artist is using a custom palette in Cosmigo Pro Motion.

Phew. Long post.

Thank You, for your interest!

Pixel Art / Re: Rogue...lite?

Thanx guys. Yeah, I'm on the fence with the outlines. I could try to skip them and separate the colors more generally to make them stand out from other stuff.

Pixel Art / Re: [WIP][C+C] Remove the "Drawn in Paint" look?

Hi,

How do you do the shading on the greys(legs) and red(torso) seems liek way too many colors.
Maybe start with a single color and apply one darker, one lighter first?

Pixel Art / [WIP] [C&C] Heroes & monsters

Hi,

I'm doing pixel work for a rpg platformer
(Thy Sword, devlog here: http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=48380.0

The most challenging things for me are making sprites stand out and nailing the palette.

Comments are welcome!

Still have to work on the street/sidewalk balance. Maybe the people (sprites) need to stand out some more...
