Thanks for the info, all of this helps a lot. Time to dig up GrafX2..

Okay, so I've been reading up on hardware restrictions on various systems lately and I want to try my hand at a Gameboy Color mockup.

The problem is that I'm a little uncertain how to go about finding/using correct colorspaces, or setting up my workflow for these colorspaces. Is there a copy-paste image of all colors for the occasionally-mentioned 15-bit rgb555 palette for this?

I'm looking at this

but there's 2x the colors there. Do some colors repeat? Is RGB presentation the only way to lay this out?

Thanks ahead of time!  :D

Hey, I really need feedback on this guy. He's nearing completion (and the animating stage), but I feel like he's lacking, as though the visual elements aren't distinguishable enough. I can't place my thumb on what's wrong, can you?

Her ear is too far up the head. The top of the ear should be level with the eyes, which you have to compensate for seeing as the head is tilted and the eyes are not on a horizontal line.

It seems here as if you just used that thing they call "selective outlining", basically using a slightly lighter outline for slightly lighter shades, which usually doesn't look very good with so many colors.

That's not selout.

About the image:

>Dithering is creating way to much noise, try going with a cel shading method instead (which should give the worm it's much-needed slimy/smooth appearance).

>The colors are not necessarily over-shifted: try desaturating them before you decide to bring the hues back towards each other.

Hey, I jsut don't really know where to go with this. The pose seems a little off, the colors are a little wonky, and it really doesn't read right and I'm having trouble simplifying the pixel clusters.

Any advice?

Any suggestions to make that come across in the piece, maybe if the artifacts were a bit brighter?

Use only one, maybe two, colors for the glow effect so the viewer knows that the palette is still controlled and the effect is intentional. I would say take one of the lightest tints that's already there and use that.

A quick overlay for the sake of convincing you to round out the head. :)

Remember the basic shapes you used to build the figure, and stick to them throughout the process.

thanks for the edit dpixel! is this enough of his face showing? or should his head be turned more.

I'm confused about the lightsource: the shirt reads as it being in front of Link, while the pants say it is actually higher than him and behind. The hat is the inverse of the shirt.  :-\
