i refer if he is trying to make an entrance he should make it at hand or computer aided not using brushes that are not related to pixel art.
this map start in pixels and end with anti-aliased brushes the question he is making a pixel art map or digital art map? cuz it look like  pixel art mixed with digital art :huh:

with any color and black  as background you can achieve this effect this method is used in 1-bit games and very limited palette like the nes one

i used here 4 colors,is my first crappy try to make a nes style graphic :P (anything was created using 1 color)

Imo  ;) those light don't look very good for a pixel art game i recommend my method
by adding this layers with opacity to a your image
(i used the old one cuz i needed the image without effect)



putting all below this two layer you can achieve this

in game u must put this two layer above all so the npc and players get affected by light :crazy:

your light is not hand made you must make kit not render or use brushed with anti-aliasing
