Hello there!
I'm some guy attempting a sassy walk cycle. I have been looking at different types of catwalks for inspiration. The program used is aseprite.
I got close to no serious knowledge about animation nor pixel art, so i would appreciate some serious feedback. Please don't hold back any harsh critique. I would strongly prefer that people tell me exactly what's wrong with my piece so I can improve it, rather than sugarcoating stuff too much.




I don't really know how detailed I'm supposed to explain my gripes with my work, but I will give some key notes. I feel like i have been looking at the animation by myself for far too long too know what's what anymore. It would be nice to hear other peoples pov on stuff, is what I'm trying to say here.
(if this is of disinterest then just stroll past the key points, I'm sure you will find plenty of stuff to criticize on your own)

1. That Damn Hair.
Right now, the animation of the hair feels far to dominating in the animation. I guess the movement of is too exaggerated, but I'm not sure. Hair movement is also a puzzling aspect to me. The squash and stretch principle doesn't really seem to apply normally here(?)

2. The upper body movement
I find the upper body a bit weird in it's rotating movement. My theory is that it might be because the body rests too long on the right side in comparison to the left. Sorta looks like e pendulum moves wrong in a way? I imagine the ease out on the right side is just too much? Really unsure about this. Also been working on that follow through & overlapping action from the shoulder to the hand, that i can't make up my mind about whether or not works.

3. The legs
My biggest focus when doing this exercise was to get the legs right, making them disproportionately big on purpose so i could focus on their movement. Naturally i see many errors here i can't explain because of it being my biggest focus. I have semi-tried to emulate the catwalk style with the feet facing inwards when they are about to make contact with the ground, but the results are quite so-so.

And that is pretty much it. I appreciate any kind of comment on the animation. If you notice anything else that i have failed to see myself, please point it out to me. I think maybe that would be the most valuable knowledge of all.

Been excluding the characters sprite sheet and that stuff since the recommendation told me art dumps are no good. But if anyone is interested i would gladly provide the aseprite file, sprite sheet or individual frames for those who wanna take a more detailed look at things. Just ask  :)
