You could make monster out of this bizzare and almot not known creature.

And you can never make a bad design with clam.

My suggestion, inspired by Borderlands (this is what happens when you're close to death):

I think it improves the sense of urgency, as if he needs to plug himself in before everything turns completely fades to black.
It adds the depth but you cant see the plug.

You could change the tint from green to red with an little add of blue, it could work i hope.

Looking good tho his legs arent shaded, his tail and hair look weird, I would redo them, outlines are missing and those lines look scribbly otherwise great job.

Even if the anatomy is correct this isn't a very interesting shot. It's a straight on shot of a very mundane looking king. He doesn't look like a king, not even a viking king.
His facial expression is boring and lucky for you it conveys boredom. A lazy king really would have more weight on him. hunched over maybe?

I want him to be lazy looking, it was mine whole intention though, dont worry this is just a sketch, ignore some detailed parts I just posted it too late...I am planing to redo his main parts completeley, not anatomy, like for instance change his chainmail, background, beard etc. according to those suggestions, I just dont have much time now so It will be longer.

If you want to see some really nice beards find el_coro's project "BUM". It's got some great art and even greater beards. Though nothing beats a real beard.
Thanks, Im just starting to draw so I dont know how to draw beards etc.

When making pixel art, just have fun as mentioned earlier go wild, let loose your inner self, relax. Inspiration isnt problem, it will come by its self, for instance you watch a film and wow that character is cool I will try to make him even cooler, or when you hear a song it gives you emotion and it comes automatically. The best thing to do is to listen to music when you draw.
You will never learn by studying, you have to DO it, maybe you will learn techniques etc. but what it will be good if you dont know how to draw...
As mentioned earlier if what you were typing is right, than you have very good thing, you strive for perfection. Many people go to a specific point in wich they stop to evolve and wont progress further, but if you are perfectionist, like mine humble self, than you will keep learning and learning, afterall "Humans go for perfection, even when they know perfection is impossible to reach, that makes them to go on" dont know who said that, but its truth.
You should show your work because there are things you wont see, bugs that you wont find or have really hard time repairing them, dont be ashamed of your work, everybody has to start somewhere, if you will stay at "I suck, mine art suck, man this sucks" than you wont accomplish nothing, remember pesimism only leads to failure.
You dont have to have inborn talent to do something, it will be harder to learn, but you will get there. Well so much from inexperienced person :).
And remember have fun, its all about having fun.

I would suggest for you to remove his...expression or totally change his face because he now looks like his face muscles are paralyzed. Look into the mirror when you are angry, your eybrow gets down, nose rises, cheekbones change etc. etc. now the only thing you have changed is mouth + the version without expression looked alot better...and try to position the ear more up as rawsushis edit...keep up the good work.

If you want it awesome you should start all over, with the body, the head is ok for me, If you want to have this style I tried to repair some perspective problems.
