I love the Urban Invader. A graffiti artist who creates space invaders made from tiles in all sorts of urban environments around the world.

General Discussion / Re: How about an employee review thread?
« on: October 23, 2009, 12:35:46 pm »
Potential emplyees really should be able to provide recent references on request if you're hiring them for paid work. This essentially does the same job as an employee review thread but is not done in the public domain.

It doesn't work the other way around (you can't ask an employer for references) and hence the need for an employer review thread.

Check out the screenshots from C64 on the iPhone to see how much nice interface elements can add to the product. The C64 app is awaiting approval by Apple after initially being rejected but you can check out the video to see how wonderful it is.

General Discussion / Re: iPhone Art Specs

Wow. Tiny.

Exactly. That's why I thought it important to mention. Pixels are very small on an iPhone's screen which impacts pixel art greatly.

It's probably also pertinent to mention that the screen is 163 ppi (or dpi) as opposed to 72dpi for most monitors. This means your individual pixels are smaller on the iPhone screen than on your monitor. Important to think about particularly for legibility of small text.

Hold the crap up a second... when did James Cameron's name go on the geek black-list?

Probably around about when that thing about that sinking ship came out.  :P

Pixel Art / Re: Soul Reaver 2D

I prefer the green in the original - to match the colour of the spectral realm more. Made a really quick colour edit just on the background, hope you don't mind:

Soul Reaver is one of my favourite games and I'm loving these!

I'd say yes, go for a lighter background but maybe desaturate a bit to give more of the misty/foggy green feel, rather than looking like moutains fading into a green sky. I would definitely buy a 2D Soul Reaver if it looked like this!

General Discussion / Wario Land Shake It - fun YouTube takeover

This is a nice ad spot on YouTube:

Aside from the cool takeover on YouTube I just wanted to point out how nice the graphics of Wario Land are looking. Probably the best use of black outlines in a game I've seen!
