Pixel Art / Re: Help at animating this.

I'd also recommend moving the head the tiny bit. It doesn't have to be a lot, but I think it would help it look more natural.

I'm clearly not the authority on this, but I think the "unclean" aspect of it really works in its favor, as it lends itself more to suggestion than it does to clearly defined forms. Considering it's pixel art, I think that's a plus, though others might disagree. Some areas I might reconsider, however, are his hands and parts of his chest. It looks like one side of his breastplate is bigger than the other, and one of his hands also looks like its bigger than the other. Come to think of it, so does one of the legs.

It comes off as a bit stiff is that it's a very square pose. It takes up pretty much the whole space equally. I don't really know how to describe it verbally, so I hope this image helps.

The second pose isn't exactly what I'd call dynamic, but it does give off more personality and feels like a less square and stiff pose than the first.

I hope that wasn't too harsh. I do really like the image so far. The design looks cool, and your shading is honestly really good. Keep it up!

edit: this is what i was talking about, put more eloquently and obviously.

Pixel Art / Re: [C+C] The Thing knockoff
« on: September 15, 2016, 12:47:10 am »
Does the guy on the right have a mini-gun? I don't remember their being a mini-gun in The Thing.  I mean, it's your knock-off, and you can take the liberty to add whatever you want to, but...

The point is, if I can't tell if it's a mini-gun or what, then the pixels aren't doing their job. The pixels have to help portray what is there. Seems obvious, but it's harder than you think.
Okay, I upped the brightness on the weapons and I think I made the minigun a bit more clear. How does it look now?

I see the megaman hand, the lightgun, vega's claw, the helmet from fallout, the kid icarus bow, link's sword(?), the ice climber's hammer(?), the powerglove, cloud's sword, and the god of war blades.

Overall they look pretty good, although some of them lack a definitive light source. The megaman hand is pretty good, but the barrel looks like there's light coming from all sides of it, which isn't the same for the rest of the hand. Lightgun doesn't look like it has any light source at all. I like vega's claw, although you could probably darken the shadows a bit. The light source for the fallout mask looks kinda like it's all over the place. Link's sword looks pretty good, no complaints there. The lighting on the hammer looks a bit off to me, but that could just be me. The powerglove is perfect in my book. The lighting and shadows on the god of war blades looks a bit off to me, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Overall, solid work!

Pixel Art / [C+C] The Thing knockoff
« on: September 11, 2016, 06:14:06 pm »
Hi! For fun I'm trying to concept a game that's a knockoff of "The Thing" by John Carpenter, and so far I've got this little cover image. Thoughts?

Looks pretty good! The shading could use a bit of work tho. Right now the face doesn't really look like it has much of a light source. The nose implies that the light is coming from the right side, as does most of his features, but his forehead, cheeks, and chin aren't really shaded to accommodate that. Here's a slightly terrible edit to show what I mean.

You can also work on consolidating your color palette. I'm not as much of a stickler for this as some other people are, but there are some shades in this image that can definitely be removed without getting rid of much detail. Here's another worse edit to show what I mean.

These are just my two cents. I won't promise to be great at pixel art, so maybe take it with a grain of salt. Overall pretty good!

Just an idea with the common thumbs up and his name on everything.

Better man tits than russia or china.
How about tits for Putin?

I like the name on the boat and the thumbs up, but I think it may detract more from "there is a yacht" aspect of the image.

For more meaning I'd suggest add people drowning in the water as he looks at them and rides slowly away.
Otherwise, what is he doing or looking at?

christ thats dark

Anyway I added someone getting chopped up by the propeller and made Trump's face look a bit more like a fat five year old who just rubbed poop in someone's hair.

I feel like I may have gotten pretty fair away from the prompt of "yachting".

I changed the propeller, added bubbles, added a thing on top of the boat, made Trump's face more expressive, and gave him man tits. The best man tits. Better man tits than russia or china.

Did this for pixel dailies. The propeller looks kinda wonky, but I dunno what I should do to fix it. Thoughts?
