Pixel Art / Re: Jack "Jackal" Jackson

So I made a quick edit, nothing fancy or especially polished, just wanted to give a visualization of what I mean.

The arms felt off because the sleeves look like they're meant to be rolled up, yet were sitting about 2/3rds down the arm, making it feel like the forearm starts really low and is too small. I tried to fix the anatomy, and also slightly increased the contrast on the skin shadow color. His left hand also in particular was oddly shaped, so I tried to fix that, too.

Let me just start off by saying I like the simplistic style you've got there. For suggestions I'd say maybe reduce the saturation a bit and drop the outlines on the backgrounds and planets, and keep them on character sprites and such for added contrast and readability. It would also help players intuitively know what can be interacted with or not.

Hey guys, you can call me DB or Wynn.I'm 20 now, and I started doing pixel art when I was around 9-10? I mostly did small edits and recolours for a while but in the past few years I've been trying to switch to scratch art. I've also been learning game design and programming about the same amount of time, and plan to focus on tactics and/or RPG games. I would really like to hone my skills to the next level and hopefully you guys can help me get there!

I tried pulling the root in to the trunk, and i also added an outline, which made me realize how unsatisfied I was with my choices. Lowered the dithering and tried to get better clusters, as well as almost entirely reworking the lower left branch because there was some wonky biz going on there.

More along the lines of this, maybe?

I decided to scrap that tree and started over, with twice the canvas size. I went for the same basic shape but tried too use more contrast and better grouping (hopefully). I used Paint.NET for layers, the rest was non-AA brush and pencil tools.

Pixel Art / [C+C] Warm-Up

Hey! It's been a while since I've done pixel art, and I still haven't worked a whole lot with tiles yet. So, I made a tree to warm up and get back in the swing of things.

There's two versions, the first draft which is rougher and has more detail:

And I also tried smoothing it out and I re-worked some of the branches:

Which style looks better? Any tips on anything else are also appreciated.
