kinda late to the party, but I gave it a shot

the first is based on this area http://share.cherrytree.at/showfile-27513/mainhall.png
and the second is more or less freestyle. I hope I didn't screwed up the 16x16 color areas too hard.
It's really incredible what can be done already with so few tiles.

thanks for the feedback. But the outlines are also kinda a style decision. But yeah, they could may be a bit cleaner on him, but that's mostly for fine tuning. Anyway I made some more progress. Some came out better, some look still kinda awful, and I think I should restart Gwyndolin entirely. I also was almost done with Sif, but my laptop thought it was funny to shut itself down, when I wasn't looking for a moment. Of course before I saved my last progress. But well, Windows... :blind:
Greirat and the Crestfallen Merchant (the two on the far right) also still need lots of work. With most of the others though, I'm rather content so far.

Pixel Art / Dark Souls - Master System Edition
« on: July 21, 2016, 10:38:00 pm »
I started to create some DS mugshots with the SMS palette.
So far I got
Solaire
Sieglinde
Lautrec
Patches
Siegmeyer
Andre
Siegward
Giantdad
and Oscar

Oscar and Lautrec are still unfinished, and I think Solaire's "eyes" could still need a bit work too.
I also noticed that I should have stretched the pics a bit vertically, considering how the it would get squashed on a real tv.
Anway, any other ideas improvement or requests which NPC I should do next?

Looks good so far. The text has a good readability. Just one thing about the menu. I think the space between upper part and the gold counter would look better if it were either black or white instead of the same grey as the windows
This is the part in the system set I mean

Thanks for the feedback, guys! I'll try to add the frames, though do you now an easier way for the animation composition?
My source file for the single frames looked like this.

Right now I think it the easiest way would be to use the RM2k3, setting Kaz' body and the bg as panorama backdrop, taking the arms as picture overlay animated via a parallel process and doing the mouth ani as battle animation. Afterwards I'd grab the finished animation with Animget. I dunno if anybody understands what I'm talking about, but this way I should have way better timing control than I could ever have with CS6 or Animator.exe and I could actually concentrate on matching the lip movement to the words instead of just doing a simple babble-loop like it's now

As for the bg, I noticed the issue on the steel beams, though I fear they may turn out even jaggier when I try to edit it over again. To be honest, I just used a thick line tool and layered each stroke over another. But I can assure you it wouldn't be noticeable on a CRT. ;) I have my Wuu currently hooked on my old TV and I checked the pic there. While not a perfect rendition there (because of the scaling and higher resolution) it's somehow much more satisfying to look at your pixelart on an oldschool tube as opposed to an LCD. I can only recommend to try it out if you have the possibilty.

Finished it! In the meantime I also learned how to animate gifs in Photoshop (Animator alone screwed up the colors) Tell me what you think, and if you have an idea what other MGS scene I could demake, go ahead!

I started my own rendition of the (in)famous scene from Ground Zeroes. I know that the shading and anti aliasing is still a bit wonky in some places, and I'm still trying out some things like with the sunglasses but my main problem right now is refining the background. I already experimiented with it in many different ways, but I'm still unable to make it look good. Also still not sure on the colors, maybe something darker, less brownish color would look better?

Also don't worry, I'm gonna to apply the changes on the face to the animation frames later. I also still need to extent his body a bit under the arms, for the animation.

A few Dark Souls drawings I made on the Wuu today.

Miiverse is just awesome. I don't even remember the last time I've been drawing this much as I did since I got the Wuu for birthday.
Those small pics are also great for coloring afterwards
Though it helps that I use a normal sized Wacom stylus instead the one inside the gamepad to avoid handcramps. It already served me well with ColorsDS back then

thanks for the tips. I'll try to correct the proportions a bit more. At the moment I'm sitting at a netbook with a sucky touchpad, so I have to do the more major edits later. At least I think I'm getting somewhere with the hair
