Super Icon are looking to expand our roster of freelance pixel artists, as we are starting new projects and have an expanded art requirement.

We need both pixel character artists/animators and background/tilemap artists.

Multiple projects - all retro themed, some of which are reboots of old C64 games.

Fee will be agreed on a per-task basis, eg. per character/tileset/etc.

If you are interested please email me directly:

Unpaid Work / Pixel artist/animator needed
« on: March 12, 2015, 04:47:59 pm »
Hi

We are starting a new game (Best Buds vs Bad Guys), using our http://www.lifeofpixel.co.uk/ platform engine as a base. It is a run and gun platformer.

Initially we need animations for the two lead characters. We'd like plenty of character and personality in their moves.

The style is small (16x24-ish), with nice animation (say 12 frames for a walk). 16 colours max.

If interested, please drop me an email to:

rich@supericon.co.uk

Thanks, Richard.

Back on track now, one aspect of the job is to improve the main Pixel sprite; to give him some more movement and personality.

This is the player sprite sheet as it stands now. As you can see, he needs a little love.

Surt - as we agreed with you, we are removing all of those tiles from all future versions of Pixel as it was a misunderstanding on the terms of the license you had assigned to the works. We believed they were an attribute license, which as you recall I emailed you with the credits screen, which I have included below for reference. The screen-shots on that page are the old ones from the PSM release, I haven't started any of the new art & reworking yet.

Please stop being so confrontational about this, we are removing all the content as promised. It was a simple mistake from using an image from OpenGameArt.org. I think you are being rather unreasonable to keep hassling us like this when we have agreed to resolve.

Human error - it happens you know!

Super Icon is a small independent game development & digital publishing studio, and we are looking for pixel artist(s) to rework some of our existing characters, and to create new characters and animations.

The game is called Life of Pixel, and it has already been released on PlayStation Mobile, where it received many very good reviews. We are now taking Pixel over to various other mobile platforms via Unity.

Here is a page with more info on the game, along with reviews:

Rates are negotiable, and production is already under-way with a planned February completion date.
