first one is very creative, third one is beautiful. but about the second one.. you didn't shade the mouth, teeth, eyes, and back legs? ???

Forgot he wasn't finished.   :-[

Anyways, I wasn't satisfied with the tar pit, so...

Improvement or no? Once again, not in the Pokemon style. (obviously)

I figure I might as well try and hone my pixelart skills in my favorite subject, fanmade Pokemon.

Note: These are NOT in the Pokemon style, I make fakemon in my own style like Shaunybug and Neorice. That said my style changes with each sprite, but I'm guessing what I want to say is I want more complex, realistic shading...

- a living tar pit
- Color experiment, ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTARASQUE
- This guy's up for a resprite but I'm proud of him so I'm posting him here.

Mostly I'm looking for help on how to make my shading look really cool. I can manage to do it on some of my larger stuff but when it gets this small it's hard to do!

Thanks for the edit! I love edits  :D

Hopefully this fixes the shoulder issue. I like the neck so I'm probably going to keep it as is.

Just test-texturing the head while waiting for anatomy/lighting crits.

Still, the anatomy is far superior to the original version.

Are you just planning on doing that much or the whole frog? If you're doing the whole frog, I would advise you to block it all out first instead of working on it a bit at a time.

edits...

A lot of that stuff I wasn't able to do, but I gave it a shot. It's cropped that way since whenever I draw the spider guy it comes out bad. P:

Made some adjustments. The outline colors are a heavy WIP at this moment. Selout will come when I'm near the end stage.

You're pretty much spot-on, Mathias, the background character has the lower body of a spider (or as you put it, arachnacentaur)

It's a specific scene in the story, where Aoi (bird person) grabs Madara's (spider person) shoulders and tells him to go back to sleep. As I imagine it happening in the story, she's looking at Madara, but in the pixel version she's looking at the viewer. I thought it looked cooler that way, like she had some sort of control over him - which she does, in a way.

I noticied some things which I'll fix tommorrow (or later tonight, depending on how late I stay up).

Two characters from my work in progress novel, in a work in progress pixel! Haha... haha...
Uhh, anyways, any critique you could give would help. I think my understanding of anatomy has improved from past threads but I have a looooong way to go...

Pixel Art / Re: The Tank

Wow, lots of replies just because of something that I said when I was PMSing.  ??? I hope I didn't offend anyone too badly, and yes I am very prone to anger, moreso during that 'time of the month'.
In any case, let me give more of an explanation to this piece.
This started with just the Luxray gijinka (who the Pokemon is a reference for), but I wanted to incorporate a background, and I happened to be listening to The Dear Hunter's newest album (which is about war) while I was working on it, so I added in the background and a bit of a backstory - Pokemorphs are being created as disposable troops to fight in a dangerous war. Or something like that. A lot of the concept's in my head and it's hard to type it down.
The WW2 pic was used as partial reference for the tank, and to give me an idea of what a war looks like - I've never seen one. I was hoping that I could use it to help give me inspiration for the background, and it ended up on the canvas because I'm too lazy to flip back and forth between windows.

As for what I want critiqued - the lighting (which Evileye was a great help with, thanks!), the anatomy, how to pull off the background, etc. I plan on submitting this to PJ's weekly challenge if I can get it done in time, which I probably won't be able to.  :(

Again, I'm sorry for what I said. I should have elaborated more on my original post.
Updates... working on them right now. Hopefully I'll have something of substance to put here soon.
