I like the last iteration more, because of the saturation.

I'm the kind that like the grass with a flat color and some spots of tall grass, here's my approach:

Of course, it is still difficult to say which one is better without looking at the assets that will go together with the grass. Some approach may suit better than the other according with the surrounds  ;D

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GBA)

Star Ocean: Blue Sphere (GBC)

Demon's Crest (SNES)

Cave Story (PC)

Momodora (and sequels) (PC)

And may others. This is a so unfair question!!!  :blind:

For a 12 years old, that lives in Poland, you really have a rich english vocabulary. And also like 80-column texts.

Edit: to clarify, I'm not being sarcastic or such. Sorry if it sounded like sarcasm.

Pixel Art / Re: Anatomy Practice
« on: January 05, 2017, 09:52:58 pm »
Hi, Zizka, I hope you are practicing with shapes.

I do these the same way I would do a drawing with pencil and paper. Learn the shapes of the body. Each part represented by a shape. I wouldn't recommend learning anatomy throught pixelart, though. Making pixelart involves knowing WHAT not to include in the pixelart, that is present in the real object, but it's too small or is too complext for the image resolution.

There are mediums for learning anatomy: book, youtube videos, photo references. Some are specific for drawing some not. For example, I have digital books of medical anatomy, and they are great when I want great detail about a specific region of the body. Books/magazines/tutorials specific for drawing are good too, expecially for beginners (like your case).

Keep going with the practicise and let us updated!  ;D

I think you did a nice job on the first hair style.  I see no problems there.
On the left I did a mouth edit.  Just seemed too wide and mis-shaped. On the right I went a bit more.  I know you weren't looking for a lot of detail, but I get carried away with pixels sometimes.  I found the head too wide and the neck a tad too long. And the shoulders had too much of a slope...just tried to balance things out and add more life.

I LIKE a lot the edit you did on the mouth, but not the edit on the right, the shadow of the glasses, the extra light in the face. Thought I like that pinkish shadow color #E18B71.

Edit: I didn't notice before, but I like your version of the nose (the nostrils with different brightness was making me crazy ;D)
