Pixel Art / Re: X-Ninja

I agree with PypeBros. Either adjust the contrast, brightness, and colour of the background to make it much darker and shadowier, making the stylistic choice or the white outline functional (keeping the ninja visible) and aesthetic (almost like the ninja is moonlit), or, like PypeBros, ditch the white outline.

World needs more ninja games.

General Discussion / Re: Restoring the former glory of Pixelation!

The biggest thing with Pixelation slowness is that the mods are growing up and all have to deal with life..... We add new people to the moderation team every once in a while hoping that the new blood will push the place ...

^This definitely. We're all old now! Need new blood to get involved. Young bloooood....

As well, I agree (with almost everyone) that the forum needs a Pixel-themed skin. Is this even a skin we're using? When I came back, I thought this was a temporary skin implemented after another board crash. We used to have different pixeled "Pixelation" headers to the forum - Bruce Lee being the most famously remembered.

That could be the first collaboration to spice things up - accepting submissions for a rotating set of Pixelation headers for the forum.

Math math finals were successfully avoided.

Hi Jonas!

Yeeeaaaahh, I tried making him even shorter before you posted and it made spock too tall. I've been watching some old TOS episodes and staring, yearning, over William Shatner's muscled body and torn soiled uniform, his chiseled chin, his wry smirk, but I can't capture the magic that makes TV Kirk into pixel Kirk.  :blind:

Hunting with google reveals I gave a whole bunch of art away in 2008.

http://mail.pixeljoint.com/forum/printer_friendly_posts.asp?TID=6884

So, false alarm. Just a lack of memory. Still, some freelancer is selling my pixels (and Technos' and who knows who else) as his own.

At first I was about to say "Noo! That stuff is old and embarrassing.." but then I thought, well if it's good enough for someone to wanna use it, why not

I guess.  It still pains me to see some of that moving around, especially some of it being edited so badly. There was a lot of better stuff in that package. I assume it's being saved to be sold to someone else! I'll try to get the name of the scumbag.

EDIT: Hi Helm!

Hi everyone,

Is there any way to find old posts from before the board was wiped years ago? I used to go by colinsick and a bunch of my pixels were taken and used in a game in the appstore! Yay!

They even took Mr T!
Noooo! Not Mr T!

I'm both flattered, because I'm awesome, and embarrassed, because they're really really old. Some of the graphics are mine, some are ripped direct from Technos, some are unknown. So yeah, is there any way to find old posts? Who knows, I may have given someone permission 10 years ago?

General Discussion / Re: Flashback HD & The terrible truth of remakes
« on: April 19, 2013, 08:40:49 pm »
The most horriblest aspect of this Flashback HD abomination is its complete erasure of the art style that makes Flashback and Heart of an Alien unique, in favour of an art style so utterly generic I've mercifully already forgotten its existence.

There's no way that the lead artist sleeps at night. His hands are totally tied by the people writing his paycheck.

Pixel Art / Star Trek TOS crew

Posted this over a pixeljoint. Not sure how the crowds differ.

(minor edits)

To avoid math finals, I've pixeled the original star trek crew for a retro adventure game I've had on the backburner. I'm not happy with Kirk or Chekov. (1st and last characters). Since they'd be doing star trek things and standing around most of the time, it's important to get their look like their real-life counterparts. Any help would be appreciated!

There's something very similar to the sprite generator here as well!

[Challenge Suggestion]
I'm making a star wars game in the river city ransom beat'em up style. You can see it here http://tyrannotorus.blogspot.ca/p/star-wars-demo.html with my official beg for help in the unpaid work section here http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=13755.0

Regardless, it would make a great challenge to make star wars characters (for my game ::)). I would really like to make it a community project actually. The demo has a new and functioning Load Character option, so pixelers can share and play the character they pixeled right away in a functioning game. Plus, it's pretty fun to pixel chibi-ish characters. And who doesn't like Star Wars?
