i think the white highlights are too intense, on the newest WIP, fill the black places on his legs with some dark blue. other than that, i like it very much. good work

Pixel Art / tanks animation (3D pixelart)
« on: October 25, 2007, 09:36:08 pm »
Few 16 color 3D tanks i made in my free time, feel free to comment. I only made the turret turning motion to see how it will turn out(:P), i wasn't interested in shot anim.

General Discussion / a question for people using pro motion
« on: September 12, 2007, 09:43:08 am »
Hi, i want to learn pro motion, but it is really complicated, are there some video tutorials, or normal tutorials showing only the essential things like reseting the pallete, preparing your images, and such?

maybe the outlines on the clothes should be a little bit brighter, also, i don't really like the lower part of the first image(the guy with a halo).
maybe make him more slim.

other than that, it's awesome, you're quite talented,  welcome to the forums :y:

Pixel Art / Re: Quick Mockup: Ice Dungeon
« on: July 08, 2007, 11:34:18 am »
the ice should be more to green+blue (very bright) thats how ice looks, and add skewed stripes with brighter colors, i dun know how to explain it better, watch some art from game boy advance, or psx games. observe how they create ice, the pattern for rocks does not feel very interesting, add some green stuff, its a water dungeon, water = moss(or slime, i dun know the exact word in english) , kind of like sewers, and i haven't seen cleaner sever than the one you made for years  :)

he doesn't seem right. watch some refference images of people, and pixelart to notice how characters are shaded, those black outlines dont make the image any better.

Pixel Art / shooter - game character
« on: July 08, 2007, 09:17:10 am »
My plan is to make a character with a gun(or more guns), that will:

-stand
-run
-jump
-double jump
-duck
-shot weapon 1
-shot weapon 2
-die
------------------------

I will make this character by creating silhouettes in 3D, and rendering them for every animation and then painting them with details. Is this a good approach, or does your experience led you to different approach? its my first attempt at something like that, and i want to avoid major mistakes.

cleaned up silhouette of shot weapon 1

PS: i may be off for a few days so this thread will drop down to the bottom , but as soon as i'm back i will post updates.

Pixel Art / Re: Sidecrollin' excessively tiled fun fest 2007

yeah, it needs more variety, add 1 or 2 trees, modify the current one if you dont have time, and tile them with the current one.
It should come up great. you have some awesome pixelling skills :y:

5 minut edit, this is what i meant about the outlines. i still think that i made them too black.
look at his belly, and see the line which is too dark, that kind of thing stands out, and need to be made lighter, the same goes for your outlines, just notice, and think about them. read some tutorials about selective outlines(selout)

i got carried away... its 1:22 here in Poland... i have to go to sleep or else i will turn into a zombie at 8:00... :hehe:

additional tips:

-fix the rest of the outlines as i shown you on the example of his left shoulder

-make the down part of the axe more shaded or toned down. simulating shading

-i dont know what are these things on his right shoulder but change them... if they are spikes, go with darker shades at the base of these spikes

-you have awesome shading skills, make good use of them when making this piece, also, think about the pose, as for now, i think it will turn out kind of dull, he's too "blocky", not interesting at all, that's what i can say from the current state of this image.

another update , fixed the leg and changed the colors a bit. i see the weight problems, and will train with silhouettes after finishing this character.

PS: he is too saturated.... now i noticed, but i dont have more patience for him... i will start making something else with what i learned, thanks for the tips.
