The knees and hips should bend along with the rest of him so his torso doesn't act like an accordian. Otherwise, great sprite! The pose is very readable and ought to work well with added weapons.

I think it's a book that somehow slipped through the dimensional void between our plane of existence and that of our counterselves.

(BTW, I really do believe in more than one universe and plane of existence, and that creatures beyond human fathoming exist in each.)
I find that book strangely familiar, but considering the number of modern works that mention it I've probably heard about it in passing somewhere.

Have you ever looked at the paintings by Brian Froud, Xion? He's best known for character and world designs in The Dark Crystal and The Labyrinth films, but he's also published a couple of books that you might find interesting. Mr. Froud paints faeries, but not the stereotypical 6" pixies with shiny wings and sparklies--he touches on higher planes of thought and feeling repeatedly. Good Faeries, Bad Faeries is a great coffee table book with all sorts of descriptions of everything that's in it; another one to look for is the Faeries' Oracle. It's similar to a tarot deck if you're in to that kind of thing, but I've found it to be a very profound source of inspiration and insight.

The far arm seems to have a separate skin tone, like he drives around with it hanging out the window and no sleeves on all day. It could use more highlights to tie in with the rest of the body, and you could also shade the armpit a little more to balance it out. Regardless, that is some hot anatomy! I might stop staring at his abs eventually.

I personally like the brighter skintones more, the first set looks like they have really dry skin. What kind of help are you looking for on anatomy?

Water seeps into every available nook and cranny, similar to what you've done on the left border-ridge. Pick out more of the cracks between rocks and drop a couple of water pixels in to extend the pebbly feel all the way across--kind of like roots for grass, but more subtle. Lowering the waterline by a point or two would emphasize the border-ridges more and add to the feel as well.

I once had a hamster that looked kind of like this guy, at least when his hair started to grow back in...

With the character sketch I can see what you mean about the wings now--at first I thought they were fists and you wanted to add a pair of wings to his back. I made a tiny edit to make them look more wingy; all I did was lighten the darkest shade and adjust highlights to fit:

If pokemon looked as good as this guy, I'd almost feel bad for beating up on them. I'm looking forward to seeing more critters like this from you, huZba!

The crystals look odd because it's the only piece with blue and purple colors. They'd work great for an underground set with similar colors, but somehow it just doesn't quite jive with the warm surface colors. Also, the crystals seem to be growing in more or less random directions from each other. I'm no expert in crystallography, but I'm pretty sure that most crystal-clusters grow from a single base point. Try replacing the two center crystals with a single larger one for a 5-pointed fan shape.
As for the grass, I think some roots creeping into the bedrock would be a nice touch--something to visually anchor the plants. Overlapping some of the rocks with blades of grass would add depth and clarify that the grass grows over the rocks rather than just on top of them.

I like the necromancers, but their robes look like they could use more shading to draw out folds in the cloth and show more of the form underneath. Also, on the movement frames their chests appear very skinny; I can tell where you changed the arm position without changing the body. Try filling that tiny purple sliver on the side with robe colors instead to flesh it out more.

Ahh, well, that's enough lurking for now. Hello, everyone! My name is Sam, and I, too live in Texas. I'm a 22-year-old artist/massage therapist who's been snooping around for about a week or so. Let me just say that you guys are awesome! It's easy to get inspired here with so many talented artists in one spot; should be fun adding my stuff to the mix. I'm not too keen on needless chatter, so I'll just post an image of myself and be done with it.
