Pixel Art / Re: [W.I.P] Swords.
« on: October 18, 2007, 04:49:39 pm »Handles tend to be shorter than the uh, part that you cut with.Unless we are talking about a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nagamaki. However, I agree that this requires some work to get it looking decent. I would set the following targets for you:
-Make the tip of the sword a more interesting angle.
-Hilts of sword are traditionally made from metal. At the moment yours looks like wood, rather than wrappings or bindings. Make it more... wrapping-like.
-More shading to define the shapes of the blade.
-Gems are usually shiny and cut, so this should be reflected better in your pixelling.
-The elaborate shape of the hand-guard seems to be larcking in definition and shading. It also appears unlike metal. This issue is also found in the blade.
I would recommend looking at a reference, or doing a little research on how swords are made, decide which type of sword you wish to make, and then either edit or redo this piece to a higher degree of accuracy. Overall though, it's quite a good start to pixel art. Keep gunning onward!
