I like that you're posting updates. Is it going to be free or a purchase? Or do you not know?

Pixel Art / [WIP] [Smallish] [Game mockup] Pixelblast

Well, here's a working mockup for a game (horizontal scrolling shooter) I might make, and I'd like a little bit of critique on the art. However, keep in mind that the game is intended to be played with the single pixels bigger than normal. Several zoom-in clicks (EDIT: 3 or 4) should give you an idea of the size I intend to use.

Other information: the purple crosshair is a cursor, and the purple-and-green pattern was me fiddling around. Maybe it could be a mine or something. The blue star was originally intended to be a power-up, but I think it might be another mine or something.

(EDIT2: The ground is solely a placeholder.)

And here's the image:

The two "conning towers" are actually supposed to be a conning tower in front and a periscope on back... I forgot that the periscope goes on the conning tower itself. :P

If that's my pallete on the left, it has a ton of colors I never used. I'm ignoring the palletes comment as it doesn't seem to make any sense. Unless it's something about the file format/makeup/saving options, in which case I haven't seen any options for anything like that in the program I use. (I used Grafx2) Also, I only used 9 distinct colors, not counting the yellow for the arrows. That pallete has way more than nine or ten. Perhaps your software is somehow picking up all the colors I ever put into the file, even if they were deleted again? I don't know, and frankly I don't really care. I want critique on my art, not critique on how I saved my image. >_<

Hi. I'd like some (constructive) criticism on this little bit of pixel art I made. It's still work-in-progress stage.

A few notes:
- I'm not very happy with the cloud.
- There are drops behind the sub, which are meant to have been thrown up by its propeller. Is that obvious enough?
- I haven't done anything to the sea yet, but I plan to eventually.

I really, really like the way those jewels look! The fruit's nice too.

Aaand Kragagam! <response snipped>
Random information: for some reason this reminded me of Harry Potter #4 when the announcer (for the Quidditch World Cup) says, "Someone! So-and-so! Aaaaand... Krum!"

Looks good! Though you say you don't have much experience in pixel art, it looks waay better than anything I've done myself so far. Of course, I have hardly done any. You could say I've never really done much pixel art at all.

Posting to say that I'd love to try out a demo of this sometime. What platform(s) is it going to be on?

Made this with Grafx2 + my mouse. Would like some critique, especially on the proportions & anatomy.

EDIT: I'm aware that the legs are too short & the top body is too long. I'd correct it, but I'm feeling too lazy right now.  :sigh:

I'm back!

I had somehow lost the name of this forum in my Great Migration from Google Chrome to Firefox, and also lost interest in pixel art for a time. Blame RL, Dwarf Fortress, Minecraft...

Anyway, here I am and I intend to keep watching this forum (at least). I also want to get better at making pixel art. I also want to create a game. Impossible? No. Improbable? Maybe. Will it happen someday? Probably...

I like it. I can't really tell where the light is coming from, but I like the rest of it pretty good.
