Another appology to whoever it was that had my name, i don't know if that person made one or not (are these things posted anywhere?) but they deserve a thanks that was not given if they did.  If anyone has it, or if that person is still around, i would love a link so that i can thank them better for it, as my current expression gratitude feels shallow when shrouded in ignorance.

no appology needed.

for what it's worth, this is what I made for you  ;D
be sure to watch for longer then 10 seconds

btw, you can view all entries on the first post of this thread.

this is a good style, I definitely like the difference between the main focus/character and the background.

while you're fixing the arm, you might want to look into the pose of his left arm as well. in a more natural /correct pose
we would be looking head-on on his elbow, meaning it would be raised much more.

try the pose he's got it in now, you need to twist your arm to an extreme you would never when grabbing a hilt to take it out

this is tasty stuff.

agreed with the two big rocks looking out of place. I think adding'texture' to them would pull them right back into place.
they seem to smooth compared to their surroundings

I think what you need to do to convey the fins being fins more is to have the 'skin' between the fins sag/curve more right now they're straight as can be which leads our mind to see
them as the outline of the tail rather then where the blue ends

furthermore, the angle at which the tail currently is would mean that it's almost at a 90 degree angle to the body which is near impossible

have it go straight out then curve lazily to the side.

just meant that (from my point of view) you know what you're talking about and that advise from you
should be something to be considered at the least.

other then that it was my way of saying post something of your own to get the full critique you can really use.

but as with most things my mind ran of and what I posted wasn't all that clear.

in short, I meant nothing wrong with it

I suggest the latter.

coming from Helm, I'd take that advice

I for one think the 1st setup was totally cool shading wise.
I'm a sucker for solid shading as opposed to the dithering thing.

I think the eye on the right should go one pixel lower still for correct iso on your last version.
also in your last edit, you made his head blockier which I think makes him even less.

sorry

this looks good, but I keep expecting the tail to do an up-down whiplike motion.
I would add that if possible

also, the color of the liquid could use some more blue if it's supposed to be water

this looks great. I totally enjoy the pixelation colorscheme so thats a plus right there.
I have to admit though that I get more of an Honest Abe feeling from this then Elvis ...

On the matter of highlighting, the 'rivets' on his leftside of the face, are they supposed to be that ? rivets or are they little indents ? if rivets, then the highlight needs to be on their topleft instead of bottom right.
with the current highlight they look like holes.
