Devlogs & Projects / Re: Kickstarter thread!
« on: July 05, 2012, 08:28:32 pm »
Hey hey!  I launched a Kickstarter this morning and it's going great so far!  I thought some fellow pixel artists and admirers of the craft would appreciate its style.

You can see the kickstarter at www.MoonIntern.com

It's essentially a serialized, side-scrolling action-RPG.  You deliver packages, fix machines, fight evil and Love your soulmate.  I'd love it you guys could show some love and support.

Follow me @LarryPixel for updates and what-nots.

I see what you mean.  They were actually intentional, and intended to add a sort of...glow...to the objects in question.  Any suggestions to make that come across in the piece, maybe if the artifacts were a bit brighter?

It's courteous to post things in 1x as it makes things (slightly) easier to edit, though most people here do not use neolythic pixel tools.

Well, that makes a lot of sense.  That's the best explanation I've heard so far.

The link you're promoting is dead, LarryPixel.

Not for me.  Weird.

Is it really part of your art though?
It's just a courtesy thing to post things at 1:1 so we can easily view them at the appropriate zooms and offer criticism easier.

I disagree.  (To shamelessly self-promote,) take a look at my stuff at http://LarryPixel.Tumblr.com
I don't think my pieces look as good at 1x pixel size.  I conciously designed them to be a whole lot bigger.
It's more than a simple aesthetic choice.  I want the viewer to see each pixel.

; _ ; I must say I am really upset to come here post something and get people giving me some bad comments only due to it being x2... . I was expecting some great c+c I know x2 is not the best to do, but I even mentioned it being x2 due to the original image being x2.

Don't apologize or take any offense.  If an image is meant to be seen 2x, 3x or 16x, then it should be posted in that size and not left up to the user to resize it.  You're creating art and have the ability to have it displayed in any way you want.

NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR YOUR ART!  EVER!

Ok.  So I feel like a goof because I can no longer find those topics, even through search.  Everyone go back about your business  ;D

EDIT:  Found another.  http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=11170.0

My apology for the confusion.  Ha.  Now I'm really trying to find those two other topics.  Bare with me here.

I'm using the term 'hate' very loosely.

I found one instance of what I mean.

Still searching for the other 2 I came across a couple days ago.  The other 2 were borderline apologetic for posting 2x images.  I naturally assumed that was something frowned upon around here.

My style (http://LarryPixel.Tumblr.com) is far beyond 2x.  Was just concerned with my posting here being pointless.

Just came around these parts not too long ago.  Seems many people don't really like double pixels.  I prefer to work in sizes 3x to 8x.  It only seems to make sense to make pixel art more...pixeled.  So why all the dislike and apology for it on pixelation?
