2D & 3D / Re: Massive Blender Tutorial!!!
« on: April 10, 2010, 08:00:42 pm »
These look great! I always get freaked out by blender and its crazy right click selection/3D cursor... I use Wings3D normally.

Some hints to new users of blender that are super useful are - (with the ever annoying 3D cursor), you can re-centre this by pushing shift-C (re-centre's to selected object + view) or (if you have multiple objects) you can push A (to deselect) tab (to get out of edit) and select your object and use shift-S<center to selection.

As far as navigation goes - C is the shortcut to center view on cursor. So if you find your view rotating in a really weird way, you can fix this by centering the 3D cursor to your object - the pushing C... then it rotates much more nicely.

Anyway - I'll get back to playing with this. I'm using an older version of blender anyway (2.46) so all the stuff is the same for me :b: Thanks for what seem like a great little series of tut's so far.

@Jakten - (sorry for replying so late) but thanks! Glad that you think it looks good :)

@L_E_T - By bumping this, you made me notice a few things that I need to tweak on it, like for example - the II controller should have a microphone thingie next to it... will fix!

I decided to learninate some 3D and pixelart - so, thought this would be a good little combo starter. Apologies if the image is a bit large here.

There's a bit of space left on the texture (512x128) which I cropped off in the preview so I'll make a little cartridge to utilise those wasted pixels  :P Ptoing helped out quite a bit as I'm new to this whole pixeling biz. Hope you like! :)

Commercial Critique / Re: Commercial Critique - Dodonpachi

All newer Cave games (after DDPactually) are mostly prerendered.

I have alll the availableCave shmups on PS2. The arika ports (DDPDOJ and EspGaluda) are VERY solid. Mushihime Sama and Ibara are OK.
The backgrounds are quite desat actually, I do not think there is any black there.

About hardness. When you play DOJ for the first time it will rape you and it will keep on raping you for ages.
Basically it's made for people that clocked DDP both loops.

General Discussion / Re: MS Paint Poll
« on: November 18, 2006, 04:29:14 pm »
It's a basic image editor that comes with windows. BASIC... there are better image editors out there, like photoshop and even paint shop.. or god forbid GIMP... (which is actually a wee bit better these days). I know that these do not cater for pixelart but mspaint doesn't either.

Photoshop is awesome as a tool for all sorts of image manipulation and editing. Painter is great for emulating traditional media. Paint-shop pro and the rest are a bit cack... but essentially perform a similar role to photoshop... but paint.. (cough, cough) paint is like the pocket knife of an image editor. You'd only ever use it if there was NOTHING else available.

Something like pro-motion is MADE for pixelling. Argument over. Why even argue about it?

Winners don't use MSpaint
