Hey,

I was wondering if anyone had any advice or critique on how i could shade this better?



mainly the shirt, im vaguely happy with the trousers, they have the kind of cartoony look im going for.

Pixel Art / Mr.Boo... has come to see you! and now hes walking too!

ok so im working on a mock up of a game concept of mine revolving arround my character Mr.Boo and need some help

The game is a platformer and is based on two of my old pixel works to create a new concept. here are the two refrences if you like of my old pixel art i am basing this on. The first being Mr.Boo and the seccond my concept of the world.




Here is where i am so far with the mock up



And last but not least this is what i am stuck on...

It seems that my choice in character doesnt work well with the enviroment i want. I think he seems to blend in way too much too the background. i have tried messing arround with colours and such but it just doesnt give the atmosphere i am after. any ideas?

Also im mainly working on the final character design for mr.boo and any comments or crits on how to improve him is much apreciated. i am not happy with him at the moment and i will have to make my stage much larger to accommodate his size but im happy to do that anyway, what im realy after is ways to improve the way he looks, shape shading and all that. any advice, crits etc?

so what do you guys think?

trying my hand at subpixel animation this is my first try at it... and its a horribly long process :D

... no this has nothing to do with batman although i just saw the new movie in the imax and it was sehr gut!...


taking a break from being very annoyed at tiles im going to be working on this in between fighting "the grid"
anyways im making this masked guy here are the lines for the moment anything i need to do before i add teh colour?

so a major edit here.... but ehm i dont have a clue whats going on with the shadeing on the suit.. im happy with the mask but the suits seems all over the place.... help anyone  :-[

so heres something i have been working on over at pj for a while.... decided to come here and get some more crits

things i know about

- the flower needs changing as it doesn't fit in
- the people don't fit with the environment (although this seems the case it is my desired effect as i want the player / players to be very obvious within the game as i plan it to be online im working on it in flash useing smartfox servers)

there are some other problems but i have probably forgotten what they were so anything you can think of that can help me is good!

Pixel Art / [WIP] mobile snow... why not

Hey pixeljointians pixelationians, me here signing in.

Recently.. being sometime today, i started on the fourth of my mobile games and have decided to put my work on this game up for crits.. as i dont think my last graphics were anywhere as good as they could be.

anyways in the game you are a kid who goes around dodgeing snowballs throwing snowballs diveing through caves leaping across ice burgs and all to get home in time for tea :D... because why not

here is what i have made so far,


the reason i have posted the loading screen is because it should give you some idea of the style i want, it shows you the screen size i am makeing the game for, it has the main player sprite in it.

Mainly i want crits on the main player sprite but PLEASE feel free to crit anything.

UPDATE... i have updated the main charicter (thanks to souly for crit/edit thingy) also there is the start to the running animation


p.s, cool beans...
and yeah i just copied from my pj post... what you gunna do about it... :crazy:

thanks stwelin, cool beans.. any better? i shaded the running now and moved arms... also i made him bob a bit and bought the back arm forward more.

@vellan: the game tiles haven't been made yet, since i think spiriting and animation is my weaker point i am trying to get that out of the way first.

yeah i got it i think.... i started on tiles... i am in no way happy with these at all..... so any differnt ideas or inspiration you know of please tell me also feel free to edit... any help at all is welcome will take it all into consideration for my final tiles. thanks :y:

started working on this game. im doing graphics and programing at the same time so the tiles and gameplay will hopefully both improve together... you may notice a complete lack of a goal or storyline but i think i have that coverd :crazy: anyways...

answer me these questions 3... ok more than 3

  • the basic ground and dirt tiles will stay as is in that style
  • i am going to improve the pencil spikes, any ideas?
  • the game sprites will be changed slightly to be a bit more detailed but kept simular again ideas?
  • i need more ideas for differnt tiles
  • do you think i need a tile for the edge of platforms or do you think the squareness adds to the style?
  • and any other cnc?
