Pixel Art / Rabbit Laser Beam AKA Kopashishi Idle animation [WIP]
« on: November 22, 2010, 08:35:29 am »
Hi again! Well today I spent a few hours working on this little beauty:

This is what I'm planning for the idle animation, and I'm looking for some C&C. It's just supposed to be him  breathing. I went from him teetering back and forth, to extreme breaths, to just blinking, to finally this. So now I'm just looking for input, especially on ways to make this look a little more organic.

Hi all! It's been a long time since I posted anything, but I figured it was about time I started again. I'm making a side-scroller of sorts with my boyfriend  and currently am working on the main character. He is a rabbit who has a cyborg eye. Now he's supposed to look cute and cuddly,so if that contrast seems odd, it's intentional, but I worked on him for a few hours yesterday and about an hour today so I feel kind of like I'm at the point where I'm ready to get some crits on him. So let the C&C begin!

Updated: I gave it an outline. I figured that would help it along a little bit. I  also enhanced the shading between the close ear and the arm.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Miner
« on: May 15, 2010, 12:52:32 am »
So I'm taking a short break from my other game to work on something new, hopefully up my skills a bit and get some more stamina to go back and work on that grass   :blind:
So here's a new thing I've been working on. He's a miner, I did it a different style than my first guy, as this is going to be a completely different type of game.
Walk animations:

I'm just looking for some C&C on this piece...
Side note: my boyfriend says the light on his hat looks funny and the outlines (or lack thereof), FWIW.

As I'm still continuing with my runner, this is mostly just a practice tile, but I'm starting to work on terrain, and here's my first grass tile  :D
Grass:
Sooo it still looks pretty tiled. But! I like the main grass style! C&C please!

Pixel Art / Hunter Walking Part II [WIP]
« on: April 02, 2010, 02:57:38 am »
Sooo I finished my previous hunter animations up...now I'm working on the back! I got the walk animation from looking at some reference pics (Secret of Mana, mostly) but it still doesn't look quite right.  :-[ I was trying to make him look like he's running, as he is in the other two, but He looks like he's marching. I've tried editing the arms a little bit to change it. It looks pretty good, I think at this point. Constructive C&C are welcomed with open arms...Thanks again for bearing with this project  :P

Pixel Art / [WIP] Walking hunter

As some of you may know I've been working on this hunter for a game. I've recently started doing animations for it. I think he looks a little...off? And i can't figure out why, more so on the side view than the front view.

Side view animation: Current:
My boyfriend pointed out that in the front view he looks like he's running, but in the side view he looks like he's "creeping". I can't figure out why that is, and I've tried editing a lot of stuff. Also, he just generally looks kind of off to me. I don't know. C&C is appreciated! Thanks for the help!  :)

Pixel Art / [WIP] [Nudity?] Marionette
« on: March 13, 2010, 10:20:05 pm »
Soo I got inspired and I wanted to keep going with the idea. So here's the reference picture I drew and I'm working with

Reference Pic

I used a wooden model to get the body style down, and tried to keep proportions in mind with it, although I'm aware that her head is a little bigger than is proportionate. That was deliberate. She's meant to be a marionette puppet, not a human, just so you know.  :P I don't want there to be any confusion as to what she's supposed to be. She's also supposed to be made from wood and of course have the puppet-y hair. This is another new endeavor for me, and it hasn't turned out quite as nice as I'd hoped, but I think it looks pretty good for starting out. I made two versions, one with distinct hair strand lines, the other without. Also, in the one with the blobbing on the hair, I changed the chin a little bit, and the mouth. Comments and honest critiques are much appreciated, and indeed welcomed.

Please be honest and even harsh..I want to get this right! :)

Sooo this is most DEFINITELY a work in progress. I'm going from a hand drawn picture (which i'll post as soon as I get to a scanner) and I'm just trying to make a girl wearing a hoodie. This is totally a new style for me (well, any is really since I'm new to this whole thing) so I need some input. Her nose is the main thing I'm not very happy with on the face..and the lips I guess too. Also, the shading on the sweatshirt...I'm not sure how to do it without it looking like embroidery. Just generally any advice would be extremely useful. Thanks so much!

Pixel Art / [wip] My Hunter
« on: March 08, 2010, 02:34:04 am »
Hey all
I'm just starting to make a treasure hunting type game with my boyfriend and I'm doing the art for the game, including the characters. This is my first time doing any kind of pixel art so critique and tips are both greatly appreciated.
Update:
That's my first attempt at a character which I'm hoping will eventually resemble:

I'm not terribly pleased about my shading, but I'm totally new at this so again, please help me make this usable! I don't want him to look exactly like that, obviously my proportions are aimed to be different as this is supposed a top down 3/4 kind of game (like Pokemon) rather than face on. Thanks for taking the time to help me with this!
