Pixel Art / Game portrait stuff
« on: January 15, 2016, 08:26:57 pm »
I've been fiddling with these for the past few days and I need some fresh eyes to tell if what I'm doing looks okay.

General Discussion / Making a color calibration tool...
« on: August 19, 2015, 06:37:01 pm »
Hey everybody!

I'm trying to make a color saturation setup for my game where you adjust a saturation slider. The idea is that when saturation is where it needs to be you'll be able to distinguish between two colors, whereas when it's too low you won't. I'm not sure how to set something like that up properly tho and I don't know where to look for information about it. Does anyone have any tips for me?

Pixel Art / [finished for now] temple
« on: August 11, 2015, 02:23:03 pm »
Game art stuff. Full on ortographic. I can hopefully counter the flatness with some parallaxing but if anyone have suggestions on how to add more depth then that would be great ;D What I'm worried about right now though are the pillars. Not happy about those at all. I can always add another color or two but I'd prefer not to. Any ideas on how to improve the shading on them?

Pixel Art / Back alley with shop

Hello.

I finished this yesterday and am looking for ways to improve it. Does the monochrome 4-color approach work or should I try and add some color to it? All crits welcome :)

Pixel Art / four sprites
« on: January 23, 2015, 12:36:03 am »
Hello community!

I'm trying to achieve a stylized, comic book-like look with large-ish heads, 6-head count for regular build (last two characters), and need some feedback on how that worked out. The first one is an old sprite I re-worked but the others are fresh. What I'm worried about first and foremost is if the proportions look okay, but all feedback and crits are welcome :)

Pixel Art / Big buff fighter sprite

Hello.

I'd love to get some second opinions and suggestions for this sprite before I do more animations. It's for a fighting game/platformer pet project that I work on in spare moments, and this guy is one of three playable characters in it. I'm extra interested in suggestions for improvements to the design, the setting is cyberpunkey dystopia in an HK-inspired city and he needs to fit nicely into that, but any crits you think of is very welcome of course.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Street scene with dude smoking..
« on: April 27, 2012, 10:04:11 pm »

Hello everybody.

I've been working on this in my spare time the last week. Don't really have a plan for it other than experimenting with 4-color pixelling and readability. It would be great to get some general feedback on it before I go on. Especially the dithering and "noise" texture. Not sure if I like those bits but I need some kind of transition from light to dark. Ideas?

Pixel Art / Charging imp

Hello,

still WIP, I'm going to add a piece of cloth or something to the pelvis area. Some more secondary motion like a titty-bounce is also planned. C & C appreciated.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Victorian thug dude

Planned as part of a larger piece. Feel a bit stumped on the jacket shading though and am reluctant to go on until I figure out a way to do it right. What do you all think? Is the jacket shading ok? Am I dithering it to death? Any other issues? Feedback welcome  :y:

Pixel Art / Standing animation
« on: April 29, 2011, 11:25:52 am »
Need some tips on how to animate subtle breathing for this sprite-size. Right now it looks kinda jerky and unnatural. I can't really drop the entire torso down a pixel at a time without making the motion look insanely exaggerated so I tried to do some sub-pixel blending magic on it instead, but that didn't work out so well either. Hmmm... maybe it's just not meant to be? Opinions? Is it possible to fix this somehow or should I just drop the animation altogether?
