Pixel Art / PB's Dump of Despairity
« on: May 18, 2007, 12:22:49 am »
Because I leave so many things unfinished and because it's all the rage these days...

1. The old man. Started as a squiggly line challenge. Sometimes I find it jumpstarts my creativity to just draw some random lines and try to create an image from it. Thus his huge honkin nose. Scanned him in - you can find the original here: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y28/pixelblink/oldmansketch.jpg
finished>>
I'm pretty satisfied with this one. Not much changed and I liked the gray on him

2. That damned sneaky pose. Yup.. haven't worked on him for a while but I do plan to finish it. I already understand that the legs are completely unnatural in that stance.

3. I suck. This was for TakaM for the secret santa thingy. My monitor was dying at the time and the colours/contrast seem way off now that I look at it. My major problem that was holding me back was the aliens body. As much as I googled, I couldn't find what I needed.

4. The Gurge sprite. Trying to get a proper body for him. Was planning to animate as well. Alot to improve on I know.

5. Floating Orb-Bot. Drew this awhile back on paper and scanned it in. Cleaned up the lines but it sucks compared to the original drawing (which is MIA somewhere).

6. Old Man Jalonso. For the latest PJ challenge. It's kinda choppy and I'm new to this style of animation. I may work on it some more to make him more fluid.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Time To Die
« on: April 19, 2007, 09:25:10 pm »
He's leaning in for the final kill with his head turned towards his prey, his weapon pulled back, and I imagine him having a bit of sneak-like stance
I always start with faces as it's my strong point. The upper body sketch looks good to me, but when I get to the lower torso, I just can't seem to get the stance right. Need some help.. feel free to edit.

Pixel Art / Mr. Magnet - 72HR GDC Entry
« on: November 20, 2006, 09:03:07 pm »
Alot of this ended up not getting into the game due to major time constraints. I was a late addition to a team and only had a third of the time to get everything done.

While I'm sure our game won't win anything, I feel it was an awesome experience. Having limited time really forces you to be creative and pump out as much as you can in a short time period.
You can download our game at the GDC forum download section under Wizzard Creations along with all the rest of the entries.

Chances are, I'll work on this some more and get my team to actually complete it.

Pixel Art / [WIP]RoboWhale/Shark/Dolphin Thing
« on: November 01, 2006, 06:35:27 am »
Just finished playing Metal Slug 3 and got inspired to make a sprite for the PJ Game (yes, it's still on despite the lack of activity).

May I present RoboWhale!
He's still choppy and in greyscale for now but the basis of what I wanted to do is there:

14 colours

Lemme know what you think I should change or add. If all goes well, I will try an attempt at animating him.

General Discussion / Pixelween 2: The Lesser of Two Evils
« on: October 04, 2006, 07:12:23 pm »
Hey guys!

Just wanted to give you all a heads up that PixelJoint is doing another Pixelween contest. Check out the official Pixelween 2006 page:
http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelween2006/rules.asp

Pixelween 2006 Rules
This years theme for Pixelween is Villain vs. Villain.

    * Cannot be an already established battle between villians (ie: no Freddy vs. Jason)
    * no animations
    * 32 colours max
    * You must use the provided template
    * Multiple submissions allowed
    * Due date: Oct 29th
    * No rips, photo traces, edits, etc
    * Can be in any form you wish (ie: game mockup, movie still, iso, etc)
    * You must state in your submission's description which 2 villians you have and what movies they are from

Some ideas...

    * Alien vs Freddy
    * Dracula vs Jason
    * Frankenstein vs Christine (from Stephen King)
    * Zombie vs Hellraiser
    * The Fly vs The Thing
    * Godzilla vs The Mummy

Make it scary. Make it humorous. Just make it.

Submit your stuff to Pixeljoint and purge your sins of all things deliciously evil.

Last thing I wanna make clear: This is for Halloween. Only bad guys will be accpeted. We're talking about horror movies here. This does not include: The Joker from Batman, Van Helsing (who is a good guy), Papa Smurf vs Your Mom, etc.

Pixel Art / [WIP] The Crash Site
« on: September 29, 2006, 04:51:50 am »
Hoping that for once I actually finish something.
Here lies a ufo crash scene in the desert. The sun has almost set completely. I'm kind of confuddled with how to light this bugger and the sand though. For the most part I'm okay with certain areas but don't wanna move ahead if I've overlooked some key point in highlighting. The lines are still jagged and will be cleaned up in future edits. Please let me know your thoughts so I can improve and finish this piece.
<<old vs new>>
Updates:
Rounded out the left side of the dome more. Changed the smoke into more of a billowing shape. I like the colours more now on the smoke. You won't see another update until much later tonight or tomorrow since I've gotta run to work.

Pixel Art / Aughra Stamp
« on: July 29, 2006, 03:47:55 am »
For the new Fantasy section at PixelStamps.

I've decided to do one of Aughra, a character from the classic Henson movie, The Dark Crystal.

I've never attempted anything of such detail before and I'm scared of what will happen when I start on the hair. That said, I'm pretty satisfied with my progress so far:
