Pixel Art / [WIP] Horses in grassland
« on: August 21, 2013, 02:54:52 pm »
I found this on my computer and have been trying to finish it. I'd love some critique, not just on technique and anatomy but also composition and such. I'm thinking maybe it needs more depth. Should I add some foothills or something? I think I'm also gonna add something sci-fi to make the narrative of the scene more interesting.

Anyway, I'm not sure what to do about the texture for the grass in the foreground. It's supposed to be tall grass, but doing a bunch of individual blades would take forever, so I've been putting it off. I might just need to suck it up, but if anyone has any alternative ideas, that would be great.

General Discussion / Selling prints of pixel art?
« on: June 06, 2011, 03:17:37 pm »
Some friends of mine want to buy prints of my art (), so I was wondering if anyone's ever sold pixel art prints. I'm not sure if it'll look good on paper, and moreover, most prints services are designed for raster art. I'm concerned that if I upload a high-res version of my art and then they resize it, the edges of the pixels will blur and it'll look like crap.

I'm also not sure what print services are best in general. RedBubble does mounted prints and framed prints, which is nice, but I didn't see any dimensions when I was looking at base prices, so I'm not sure how pricey they are compared to, say, deviantART. They have more options than DA, but DA lets me upload source files for different sizes, which is a big plus.

Anyway, anyone ever sold art prints? What service did you use, and how was your experience?

Pixel Art / Mongol girl riding a horse [WIP]
« on: June 06, 2011, 03:08:23 am »
Big thanks to Eyecraft for helping me with the composition in IRC. Anyway, I'd love some feedback on this as I work on it! I'll probably add more vegetation leading up to the rider and away. It's supposed to be the steppe, so there will be grasses.

Something is bugging me about the rider, but I'm not sure what. Suggestions? The horse's legs are also a little funky, so I'll continue to work on them.

Edit: I forgot to post my refs!

Pixel Art Feature Chest / GR#048 - Cyberpunkish RPG Tiles
« on: April 01, 2011, 01:22:24 pm »

I'd really love some crit on these. Still making more tiles, but if there are any problems so far or any room for improvement, I'd like to hear it. Interior tilesets are not my strength, so I'm really trying to push myself here.

Pixel Art / Necromancer [WIP]

Anatomy is a huge weak point of mine, so I figured I'd post this for critique before I get farther and work some fundamental mistake into the piece.

Obviously I haven't really done any cleanup yet except a bit on the armor.

Pixel Art / SNES-style RPG stuff
« on: October 14, 2009, 06:48:18 am »

It doesn't loop, but I'll probably make it do that eventually. At any rate, this is my first real attempt at pixeling clouds, and I'm not sure I quite got it right in some places. Also, a couple parts look weird, especially the smaller fragmented clouds in the upper right corner. Thoughts?

Pixel Art / [WIP] Egyptian woman

Most recent version:

Original version, although it's somewhat embarrassing now:

Clearly this is unfinished, but as line art is typically one of my weaknesses, I figured I should stop and get some input before proceeding. I know her head is big, and the bird (an Egyptian vulture, btw) is smaller than it should be, but oh well. Feedback so far? Palette (I cannot make hair black to save my life)? Dithering (excessive)?
