Pixel Art / $100 Game!

im skinning the game in this topic here ->
its for $100 so i want this to look as good as it can.
heres my demo so far -> http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JB76L4CZ
and heres a screenshot for those of you who are to lazy to click.
to do list:
- change glow on the tiki's to palm leaves blowing in the wind, the glows are holymonkeys
- change bananna 'take damage' graphics, those are holymonkey's too
- see if i can restore the last scrolling layer of bushes that i accidentally messed up when i was figuring out transparency
crits?
again i want this to be the best it can be.

General Discussion / transparent PNG's

Im working on skinning a demo (the one in the challenges forum), and the graphics im editing over are in .png format.
since i do most of my pixel pushing in ms paint (d'oh), I don't really have the know-how about creating transparent PNG's.
My question is this: is there a simple program (such as giffy) that handles transparency in .png's? if not, what is my best bet for creating them?
