Pixel Art / Little character with over-powered weapon [updated]
« on: February 22, 2010, 01:57:02 am »
I recently picked up the pixel again to work on a small game. I was having fun with this particular animation so I thought I would post it up. Its the main character (a faun type thing) with one of the last weapons ou will get in the game, a trident:

Its only the first go-through with the animation. At this point I'm thinking I want the energy ball to build up slower instead of having it just sit there for a while before firing. The projectile sprites are both just FPOs, the idea is that you would fire the weapon (first projectile) and hold down the fire button untill the trident charges and unleashes itself.

I managed to bang this and a lot more out in an afternoon so I'll post up more stuff once I get GIFs made. C&C welcome and all that, thanks for looking.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Its been a while
« on: December 16, 2008, 11:46:55 pm »
I haven't touched this project in forever but i sat down yesterday and cranked out some stuff, i forgot how much fun pixeling is. The idea behind the game (for now) is a multi-player large level fighting game, similar to smash bros. So, first off, kind of updated content:

The old content is the HUD and the spiral pillars (which have had some touching up) otherwise I've completely restarted this tile set so i might as well be presenting it as new. Its supposed to be a mildly ruined outdoor space. The rainbow dummy is there for size reference.

This is an entirely new space, its supposed to be a room in a lab where the fight is being observed by a bunch of mad scientists. The whole observed experiment thing is starting to lend itself to a plot in my head and i'm happy with how some of the elements are working at this point.
And this is how the bits by the floor would be working:

Both of the backgrounds obviously need texture and depth, but i'm hung up as to what it should be back there so any thoughts on that would be appreciated, crits on anything else would be great too.

Pixel Art / [wip] [nudity] why, hello there!
« on: August 01, 2008, 02:06:01 am »
Howdy!
I've been lurking for a few months and after pixeling for eight hours today i decided it was time to get an account and get some feedback on my work. So here it goes!

Your generic dump containing a whole bunch of stuff WIP, a few finished baddies and power ups and a couple color variations thereof:

The female character, as well as a bunch of characters yet to be are based loosely on the geometry of the trainers from pokemon. I liked the scale and thought it would be easy to make a doll from. And i am aware of the likeness between some of my little bipedal plant guys and oddish, i havent played pokemon in years and completely forgot about him until someone pointed out the simalarity :'( bummer. oh well.

The beginnings of my first tileset in semi-mock-up form:

I know there is some hairiness around where the blue diamond tiles get dark and the highlight on the ornament on the bottom corners, i just havent figured out how to go about remedying it yet.

and my first two (pixel) animations:

Well thats it for now c&c on anything if you feel like it. This place is a great resource and really inspired me to get in gear about making this game.

edit: proper warning format
