Pixel Art / [WIP] behold! it's an evil deer-monster!
« on: May 09, 2011, 04:52:57 pm »

i'm probably putting these in a mockup.
at the moment i didn't want to focus on the lantern's light because i wanted to have a sprite that worked in various poses, even without a lantern in his hand.

before the pixel process:

Pixel Art / bonsai is fun!

latest, small improvements...

wip old sage/guru (inspired by emmett brown and disney's merlin, though he turned out like santa =_=') and cute main character, both for an indian setting. i have a lot of trouble picking colors for the boy. they should fit his medieval india culture, a bit of richness, but mainly should be cute and original. what do you think of the colors on the right?

old > new
these are for a sort of tamagotchi project. i guess you're looking at that, having no idea of what it is: a bonsai.
i left the grey and sad palette for a merry bright mood, revealing the power of sun with hurting colors. maybe i exaggerated ^^' how could i make its shape less confused? i can draw it from scratch again, if necessary.

new > old
the pieces of furniture that, one day or another, i'll draw all over again and post here. you see i abandoned black outlines recently, for those milk, strawberry and coffeemilk boxes.

Pixel Art / [wip] my first palette
« on: September 06, 2008, 10:26:12 pm »
hey there! :)  i've been lazy for too long, so here is an experiment for a palette with a happy-living feel. i'm quite satisfied and i'm using it for future projects.
the random guy is my first human sprite... his face turned out pretty boring. would you mind giving me some advice, especially about the colors, the blue shadows and the face..? thank you!
uh, there's just an only lightsource because i wanted it.

Pixel Art / [WIP] freshness
« on: July 06, 2008, 05:30:08 pm »
this is my first topic, then i should kindly introduce myself: :) i'm chimico (read like 'kýmiko') and this is my first authentic pixel art. i've done some isometric pieces of furniture some time ago (and that's all my experience), but i used thousands of colors at the time, and they were way too unsaturated to turn out interesting, so i may post them but i should first apply some changes.
here it is, it's a gift for a friend of mine.

i used no ref - well, i first made a drawing of a male face on paper which i've been watching while working, but this anyway turned out completely different. my goal was to make something extra-detailed trying some dithering. i engaged myself much and spent really a lot of time on it.
the palette is composed of 14 colors by now (without background) and i'm planning to delete the lightest skin tone.
main faults i see:
- the shirt looks horrible, boring and poorly detailed;
- the guy's left hand seems to be lightened from the right, while the light source is  more or less on the top left corner, in front of him.
... and maybe his expression is a bit too stupid. any advice? i'd really enjoy some! and crits!

anyone remember the commercial? when this is satisfying enough to me, i'll add the typical white text on the red bar.
hope to make this better.
