« on: June 16, 2016, 06:53:29 pm »
Hey everyone!
I just finished up making a tutorial about animating attack animations for the game Duelyst. I thought it could be helpful to some of you!

You can watch it here:

Please let me know what you think!
(Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place)

Pixel Art / Robot Factory
« on: August 06, 2013, 06:09:37 pm »

Hi everyone!  Recently I've been working on a mockup using the sprite I posted earlier on pixeljoint.

http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/79621.htm

The premise of the game is that you are dropped off on a conveyor belt, which leads to a big smasher thing like in megaman x, flame mammoth stage. You have to survive as long as possible while rescuing your robot friends, who are going to be smashed!  Any comments or criticism is greatly appreciated! I'll be posting an update soon, so stay tuned!

Thanks!

P.S ignore the red lightbulb type thing at the top, I was doodling :D

Pixel Art / X-Ninja
« on: May 25, 2013, 06:28:29 pm »
Hello everyone! I've been reading the threads on getting Pixelation back to the glory days, so I thought I'd help out by being a bit more active. Here's a mockup of a game I'm working on, temporarily named X-Ninja. (X is the only key you use in the game)

As you can see I'm almost done with the background and tiles and all of that, except that pesky foliage on top of the bamboo  is very difficult to pixel. I can't seem to get the middle section of it right.  If anyone has advice or critiques on how to get the foliage to look right, that would be awesome. If you want to make an edit, the tiles are 32x32 and the foliage tiles every 2 32x32 tiles,(so I guess 64x64) If you have any other other critiques, I'd love to hear those as well.

PS. The background will have parallax scrolling in game so I'm not worried about the alignment of the bamboo thing.

General Discussion / Painting book suggestions
« on: December 02, 2012, 08:19:44 pm »
Hey guys! So for Christmas, I wanted to buy my brother a painting guide kind of book, but I don't know which ones would be good. Since you are all artists here, I figured you guys might know a few titles that you could suggest. He's decently skilled with painting, so something a little more advanced would probably be suited.  He has Color and Light; a guide for the realist painter by James Gurney, I think that is about the right difficulty level. (I don't know how popular that book is, so that might not mean anything)
So if there's any books on painting that you guys really enjoyed, please post about it in the comments.  Thanks!

Pixel Art / werewolf walk cycle
« on: October 11, 2012, 10:17:28 pm »
Hi! I need some critique on these werewolf cycles. I think the arms are the part that I'm having the most trouble with (front and back cycles.) Any critique is welcome and would be very helpful! Thanks!

Pixel Art / Turn Based mock-up
« on: July 22, 2012, 03:39:45 am »
Hi everyone! Recently I've been working on a mockup for an advanced wars type game. I was inspired by Eyecrafts mockups of Super Daiymo (http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=12835.0) to make a high saturation top down.

(ignore the thing on the side I was using it for tiling)

I was thinking those sheep at the top eat grass to lay eggs, and you can choose what monster comes out of the eggs. Right now I have 5 different types of enemies and a couple of tiles. I'm trying to persuade my brother into making an android game with these graphics haha. Please leave comments or criticism. Thanks! Next up I'm going to animate the water and snake, and possibly some new tiles.

Pixel Art / Knight character
« on: July 13, 2011, 03:47:06 am »
I haven't started a thread for a while, so I need to stop lurking and learn some pixel art! I made this knight-type character and I'm not sure where to go with it form here. The leg armor ( I think they're called grieves? I'm probably wrong haha) was giving me some trouble, I can't seem to get it to look the same on both sides of the person.  I also have a bandit sprite I'm working on but it it is still very rough so I won't post that just yet.

comments and critique would be great! Thankyou!

Pixel Art / Portrait Practice
« on: March 17, 2011, 11:51:45 pm »
Hello, I haven't made a thread in a while and I thought I'd post this portrait I'm starting on. Originally, it was for the weekly challenge at PJ, but it got too large so I'm not going to enter it anymore.(Actually I might just crop the face, add glasses and submit.) I still have to do the hair, neck and shoulders. I've mainly worked on the face but any crit would be fantastic. Thanks.

Edit: tinypic doesn't like it when I upload more than one of the same image and it gets deleted... I should probably switch to photobucket.

Pixel Art / Ramona Flowers
« on: January 12, 2011, 03:35:31 am »
For the weekly challenge, I'm making a portrait of Romana Flowers from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. I've never tried to use a random pallet like this to make a skin tone, so I'm pretty new to trying to mixing weird colors.

Colors I can use :

reference for jacket : http://miascugh.ptoing.net/pixels/mawio2.gif I found it on the colored line art thread.
