Pixel Art / Water Spirit - Need some help...
« on: December 18, 2010, 07:24:54 pm »
So I've been working on this piece for the past week.

Today I decided to make the bottom half of her more interested, so I decided to have her come out of a pool of water. Problem is, I have no idea how to shade water. :| Any tips? I've been searching for other water examples but they're all too detailed or color-intensive...

Pixel Art / Character re-do
« on: June 15, 2010, 06:12:35 pm »
Well I'm trying to make some cool sprites with a character idea I previously had, but she was too big for me to animate. (Or rather, I was too lazy to animate such a big sprite)

So, I'm trying to remake her and at the same time, make some other things I can use in the future. So, i'd like some feedback on what I make as I continue working on it.

Here's most recent:

Older Versions:
(Also, if I ever make a game for this character, she'll be 2x size or larger)

Pixel Art / TWGoK Characters

Jun Nagase

She's a student teacher and my favorite character who is just plain adorable and kick-ass :P
Anyway, I'm pretty proud with how she turned out, but I'm still constantly adding and changing things about her. So, I'd like to get her perfectly done, since she deserves as much.  :y:

Some references I used:

Nanaka Haibara (LEFT) WIP:

2nd favorite character, she's an expert shogi player (kinda like chess) and she's also pretty bad-ass. In very early WIP, I'm still sketching her base out.

So again, crits comments and suggestions would be heavily appreciated. Thanks.

Pixel Art / [WIP]Detective's Room background
« on: February 10, 2010, 12:33:43 am »
Alright so I'm working on a background for a Phoenix Wright-styled game of mine, and if you've played the game, you'll know that the backgrounds are one of the if not THE most important part of the entire game. And so, it's pretty important I get this as close to awesome as I possibly can. So, this is what I have so far for the "Detective's Agency:"

(Door and Clock will be shaded later)
(The grey thing next to the table is a plastic bag)

In all honesty, I've never worked with backgrounds before and this is pretty much my first attempt at it. So I'd like as much crit as possible, and feel free to bash it as much as you want, I want to improve, so please don't beat around the bush.

And um, that's all. Thanks for reading and (hopefully) commenting.

Pixel Art / [DONE(?)] Indie Brawl character attempt (Assassin Blue)
« on: December 03, 2009, 08:18:37 pm »
Hello there, so I'm a fan of the game Assassin Blue, and I thought that it deserved a place in TIGS' Indie Brawl project, so I thought I'd try to get a sprite going for 'em. So.. I started on it, but I'd like some crits on my progress.

Possible Final Sprite

Here's some screenshots of the game, Assassin Blue.

And here's some sprites from the Indie Brawl Project.

Of course, I still have quite a lot more to do, but I just feel like I'm heading in the wrong direction. Please help me out a bit, eh?

Again, here's the sprite I need help with.

Pixel Art / Coloring Advice
« on: August 25, 2009, 08:44:43 pm »
Screenshot of environment:

Boss Character(No Coloring):

(On the last frame (With his sword pointing), he'll be sliding)

Now, I'd like opinions and crits on everything here, but I specifically want ideas on how I should color my character to fit in with the tiles I posted above him.
Thanks for reading.

Pixel Art / Paul Bunyon Entry (help would be nice)
« on: July 19, 2009, 05:28:03 am »
Man... waiting this long was a REALLY bad idea, this is taking such a long time. But I really like this challenge >_<

I'd really like some crits and ideas (for the bg) for this piece I'm trying to make.

I'm having a ton of trouble figuring out how to make those boxey things lumberjacks' usually have on their shirts (this) and I had so much trouble with the face I just covered it with a hat.

Pixel Art / Face Attempt
« on: February 13, 2009, 01:37:48 am »
Heya guys, been a long time since I've been here.. and this is the best place I know of to get great crits, so I've returned. (not that you care )

Anyways, I'm trying my best to create a portrait, I'm not sure if I'll ever use it.. but I really just want to try it out for the hell of it. (it's kinda fun actually  :y:)

Anyways, here he/she is.

I'm having trouble with shading.. and the whole structure seems wrong to me. So, yeah. Crits please.

As a note, I got my inspiration from zeid's pixel face.. though I'm having some trouble finding the link to it.. sorry.

Pixel Art / Animation Attempts
« on: August 23, 2008, 07:26:19 pm »
Hello, today I found new inspiration to being programming a new, platform sword fighting game. So I made these few animations, which I've already programmed in. I just wanted to get some opinions from veteran pixel artists on what I can improve on.

I am using blobbing to animate. The character will not look like this forever, it just helps me animate.

Moving - Character walks

Combo 1 - Character pulls out weapon and strikes

Combo 2 - Character spins and strikes from side

Combo 3 - Character leaps and attacks enemies in-air

That's currently all the animations I have finished.

If you'd like to see these attacks in-game, you can download the early beta here.

Thanks for reading!
