Portfolios / [AVAILABLE] Pixel / Digital Artist
« on: November 11, 2018, 08:45:08 am »
Hi, I'm a pixel artist, digital artist and programmer. I'm looking to get back into doing some freelance work after 3+ years of programming iphone games. I can do pixel art, painted digital art and photoshop work. I'm open for both long term and short term projects.

Best way to contact me is by e-mail: chris_6713@yahoo.com

General Discussion / MazeQuest 2 Released

So this is what I've been working ( slaving ) on for the past year or so. MazeQuest 2 is basically a remade version of MazeQuest 1. Whole new engine built in unity. Now has tactical combat similar to shining force rather than the basic static combat of MazeQuest 1.

The graphics were made using a variety of techniques, including clever photoshop effect manipulation. Nothing was straight pixel art though, but still it looks pretty clean. I hope someone enjoys the game, and don't forget to leave feedback of some kind!

2D & 3D / Recent Digital Animations
« on: February 27, 2017, 06:45:43 am »
I thought I'd upload some of my recent stuff ( since no one else is posting anything ). It's for an up and coming iphone game. 3 frame animation although one frame is just a mirror image. I had to do this to cut corners because I am also doing the programming  :blind: But it shows it can still look decent if done right. No pixel art used ( pixel art is dead, face it :P ). The fuzzy outlines don't matter because it just blends to the background, 32 bit color is very nice  :y:

Feel free to critique.

General Discussion / Space Scavenger is open for beta testing

( not quite sure why but the above gives me an error, so try this link below if you can't get it to work )

Just in case some of you are curious what I've been up to for the past 3 months, I've been banging my head against the wall dealing with apples bugs :blind: I swear they are almost as bad as micro$oft. I also found time to do a little artwork ( all the artwork for the game actually ).

Directions on how to become a beta tester are in the youtube video description.

My name is Christopher Orr. I’m a 36 year old graphic artist restarting my art career after a long hiatus. I have strong skills in both traditional illustration and all forms of digital art.

Here are a few samples of my pixel work ( traditional style pixeling ), the tree being the newest:

Some of my newer concept art, done in Manga Studio:

*Unavailable right now I'm working on a project for the next 2 months.*

Pixel Art Feature Chest / GR#205 - Tree Practice - Shading
« on: August 04, 2014, 03:39:53 am »
I'm getting back into art again so I'm trying to round out my portfolio a little. I noticed I don't have any trees yet. So here goes.

Let's start with the rough idea ( sketch ):

Step one, paint the basic idea:

You may notice the picture flip, that's because it helps me spot any obvious flaws.

It's been so long I forgot the basic process and put way too many colors down at first. On this next one I simplified the colors so I could see what I was doing, then built up from there.

And that's where I am so far.

Any advice is welcome.

General Discussion / Safari zoom blurring, how to fix it?
« on: March 25, 2011, 06:11:43 am »
I have an Imac now and I click an image on the forum and it zooms and autoblurs.

In firefox they fixed it but is there any way to fix it in safari ( mac browser ) or do I have to use firefox for mac?

Pixel Art / Santa Force [WIP]
« on: December 09, 2010, 06:00:08 am »
I didn't plan to show my progress on this publicly for national security reasons, but seeing as this forum is so dead lately ( since when did you all get a life? ) I figured I might as well.

That's the grinch ( who allegedly stole christmas ) on the left. I am not sure whether he will be wringing his hands or holding a weapon, or what, yet. You should know who the guy on the right is.

I know it's rough, but the basic structure should be fairly clear. If you see any glaring errors feel free to tell me, or make an edit.

I think my next update will be on the background.

*EDIT*

I started to make a background, but then I had second thoughts on the design. Seems to small and domestic. So I'm thinking on this one. Here it is anyway.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Another pixeled portrait

Great, new pumpkin smilies, I can barely tell the expressions apart :o

I thought I'd try pixeling the portrait this time.

Here's the creative doodle:

And the semi-reference:

Here is what I have so far ( progress is left to right ):

Update:

Feel free to comment and let me know if I am overlooking any major flaws.

General Discussion / RandomLand .60 Released
« on: September 13, 2009, 03:28:46 pm »
The project is still alive and kicking. It's just slow. I thought I would release another version since I have the battlemode running and it now has some music.

You can download it here

Here are a few screenshots ( there are a lot more on the website ):

You have a town and a dungeon you can go in and explore. I left the debug keys in, so you can hit f6 to remove the fog and f10 to exit battles if you want.
