(It's pronounced All-Tea-OWN-Us:)

Hey guys!
I have just released my first commercial indie game. The game is a love-letter to the home computer arcade games of 80s and 90s, such as Phantis, Halloween Harry, Astro Marine Corpse and Jill of the Jungle. The game features tons of lush, varied and well animated pixel art and lots and lots of rockin' chiptunes by the legendary Jake 'Virt' Kaufman!

Trailer:

The story is silly, and goes sort of like this:
Galactic hero Serena S has been trolled on Spacebook. This is obviously a cause to embark on an epic quest to punish the troll in question, who just happens to be The Space Prince. Guide Serena through 7 stages of shmup action, jumping, shooting, and yet decidedly more jumping and shooting to her ultimate goal of total testicular annihilation of her foe.

Thank you guys.
Cheers!

Pixel Art Feature Chest / GR#068 - High Detail Environment Scene

Okay - I decided to make the starting location of my, otherwise entirely tile-based game a large pixel painting. It took me a ridiculous amount of effort to get it even to this point, where I've decided to call it done.

Pixel Art / Portrait style dilemma [WIP]
« on: February 05, 2009, 05:08:15 pm »
I've been working on my Legend of Iya for a long time now (and the project IS coming along, though slowly), but yesterday I have suddenly looked at my main character's portrait with a fresh eye, and for some reason thought the anime-esque portrait of the player character might no longer be appropriate for the game (though it was a spur of the moment thought).
Please have a look at the old and the new portraits, and please help me decide if I should keep the old one or go with the new non-anime one.

Original anime-ish portrait:

New anime-free attempt:
NEWEST:(older>>>) (older>>>) (older>>>) (older>>>)(OLDEST>>>)
WARNING - Also keep in mind she is supposed to be 12 years old!

Ohh, and the in-game character looks like this:

Ohh, and just to give you context - things she fights sometimes look like this:

In a world that sometimes looks like this:

Please help me decide...

Pixel Art / Boy and his Blob dumping ground.
« on: August 12, 2008, 02:39:41 pm »
Hi there.
This post was inspired by this article http://gonintendo.com/?p=52358.
Back in 2004, after seeing at the E3 Majesco's abominable (and since aborted) attempt at making a DS Boy and his Blob game I have started this project that has since gone nowhere (and was in fact dead for three years now), but spawned quite a few animated sprites.
The project was a collaboration between me and Bigbrother, who did all of the Blob animations, while I concentrated on the boy himself.
It is my hope to one day soon continue the work on this.
- Idle (note my first attempt at sub-pixel)
- The running cycle. For it I have transitions both to and from idle.
- Since we decided to make licorice beans turn the blob into a rope, and NOT a ladder...
- Feeding a bean to the blob from idle position.
- Summoning the blob.

Sprites below were made by BigBrother:
- 1st idle cycle - the blob is impatient
- 2nd idle. This plays every now and then.
- 3rd idle. The blob is bored.
- 4th idle. Regular idle.
- 5th idle. Blinking.
- Regular run cycle.
- A run cycle when summoned.
- Eating a bean.
- Falling off ledges.
- If a bean misses

None of the backgrounds were drawn for this project... so no mockups...

Pixel Art / Cave Story for unrealisticly underpowered platforms
« on: May 13, 2008, 09:08:21 pm »
Hey there.
I've been replaying Cave Story for the umpteenth time this week, and stopped to wonder - could've it been down-ported to some old console, computer or a handheld...
My first thought - ZX Spectrum: )

Anybody wants to make a mockup for, say, NES, or EGA PC?
(I know, this is a somewhat silly topic, but this might be fun)
