General Discussion / Is it good to use other's palettes being a newbie?
« on: October 27, 2019, 09:19:26 pm »
Hi,

I'm at the very start of my pixel art learning and as almost any newbie I'm struggling with rendering (color) really hard.

I use aseprite and there's a lot of palettes to choose from and I have tried to use some (For example Game boy one with just 4 colors) and I feel like it frees me of the burden of selecting right colors beside applying good form and shape to my sprite. But, on the hand I think this won't let me improve with color :/.

So, do you think it is a good thing to use pre-made palettes to try to create pixel art for a newbie? (At this stage I am just trying to pixel anything I find in 16x16. It doesn't matter if they are pieces from other pixel artists, still life or whatever).

Cheers!

Job offers / [PAID] Looking for Pixel artist metor/tutor/teacher
« on: October 26, 2019, 12:20:49 am »
Hi,

I'm a seasoned game developer that want to get into art. I'm looking for a pixel artist mentor/tutor/teacher. The work consists in guide me through the process of getting better at pixel art mainly at rendering subject (coloring). I'm not totally new to pixelart. I have done several pieces and I can show them to get a grasp of what my level is (I think it could be low/medium).

The main flow I would like to follow (I'm opened to any other if it is consistent) is:

1) We talk about what I would like to improve
2) You send me exercises, supply ideas, what I could do to improve on the subject, etc.
3) I send you my work and you critic it and explain how I could improve it through skype or just by sending back annotations.
4) Loop to 1

It is a long time job because I'm really interested in improving but it won't take too long from you everyweek. I think no more than 1h. If you are good and I see improvement, I can fit any schedule you have. I know we all have day jobs we have to attetnd, so, I am very open to any schedule you could have.

What can you expect from me:

1) Regular payments
2) Practice, Practice and Practice.
3) Very flexible schedule
4) Very open to new ideas

« on: June 12, 2017, 04:41:42 pm »
Hi,

I'm a newbie at animation. Have found some really nice exercises to start and would like to hear the opinion of the community for my first exercise. A simple bouncing ball (inplace).

For me it is ok, but perhaps more experienced users can spot problems. What do you think?

P.D. I can send ase file if needed.

Cheers.

Pixel Art / How do you start with animation?
« on: June 03, 2017, 09:05:28 pm »
Hi,

I have been doing pixel art for a bit and want to get into animation. But this is a subject that really beats me down. I have read de 12 princicles of animation, but it is really dificult for me to apply to a simple character. I'm really blocked.

Could you give some advices or exercises I could do to get into this difficult art?

Thanks.

Job offers / [Paid] Looking for Mentor/tutor in pixelart.
« on: June 02, 2017, 06:27:17 pm »
Hi,

I'm looking for a taleted pixel artist willing to spend some time (1/2 hours per week) teaching pixel art to me. I have done some pixel art (I can show if you need to, to know where I'm moving) but need a lot of help on color/animation and creating from the mind.

In the end the classes will be mainly critics, some paint overs, and tip and tricks to improve my pixel art because there's no much to learn beside all the tutorials on internet. But, I want to have a good/experience d pixel artist at my side to make critics and bring his/her experience to improve faster.

Remember I mainly want to focus on color (palette creation, etc...) and animation.

If you want to be my mentor and teach your pixel art powers let me know and we will talk about rates.

Prefered language: Spanish, but english will do too.

P.D : Please, show your portfolios.

Cheers.

I'm looking for a good pixelart and animator artist to help me improve with my pixel art. Main concerns are color work and animation. I'll be taking between 1-2 hours classes per week and they will be mainly focused on reviewing the assigments the mentor/tutor will give me. I'm working this way with other illustration classes I'm taking and is working pretty good. Classes can be provided through skype or whatever other form of communication.

Price per hour will be set depending on the teacher experience. Payment will be made every week before class starts through paypal or whatever the teacher likes.

I won't take into account any mentor/tutor not providing a portfolio.

Prefered language Spanish, but english is ok too.

If you want to see a bit of my work, yout can check my twitter account: https://twitter.com/_HexDump_/media (Please scroll down a bit becuase lately I'm just doing figure drawing).

Thanks in adnvace.

Cheers.
