Pixel Art / Reference Practice

Hey guys.
I've been trying to draw this palm tree scene from a reference I pulled off google: http://imgur.com/Rso3r70
This is my first attempt at trying to convert a high res photo (ref is pretty shitty quality) to my own pixel version, and I'm having a hard time pixeling out what the palm tree leaves ACTUALLY looks like... given the limitations inherent to pixel art.

the light source is supposed to be in front of the tree and slightly to the left.


any comments or critiques?

Pixel Art / Idle & Walking Animations Help

Hello all! I just got into pixel art this week and I decided to try my hand at a few simple animations.
But I've been staring at these two animations loop for too long and I need a fresh pair of eyes.
I don't like the timing of the idle animation, but i'm having difficulty fixing it.

Pixel Art / Pixel Art Beginner Critique

I've always wanted to get into pixel art and yesterday afternoon that's what I did.
I started drawing a little scene, and I was wondering if I could get some feedback.
I have little idea about what i'm doing (what is/how do I dither/AA), nevertheless I'm proud of what I've done so far considering i'm a complete beginner to pixel art.
But I look at previous posts and all the beautiful pixel art on this site and it makes me want to learn and improve.
