Portfolios / All-around gamedev pixel artist
« on: November 22, 2021, 04:26:14 am »
Hello, I'm a pixel artist with specialization towards gamedev work. I can do work for just about any game you might need, at any size or style you might need. I especially will be able to work well with indie teams with lower budgets, but I can also do longer projects perfectly fine.
You can contact me for work offers via my email (jm.weis@yahoo.com) or via Discord (AppleHeck#2071)

Pixel Art / Robot girl

So I've gotten myself back into pixel art as of recent and I've been doing a bunch of new things (Of which you can see here since it's all the same project)
But my recent one has been bugging me. Namely, the way I handled the arms on it.

Something just feels off about them and i just can't quite place the issue.
(also worth noting I'm working within Sega Genesis limitations for the palette and color count used. I'll have to for the project if it stays in it's current form)

I'd post the reference of the character but it's particularly NSFW, so I'll link it for everyone's safety https://twitter.com/Pochincoff/status/1135393452642856960

Pixel Art / [C+C][WIP]Space Panzer and other things
« on: January 30, 2016, 09:57:04 pm »
I haven't done pixel art in years. I started posting over here sometime in 2009-2010? but my account seems to be MIA. I think it was Carl Winslow, but whatever.

I think these were the first things I posted way back then?-->
Well anyways, on to things I'm actually sort of okay with. these were for various things or simply for fun. Since sometime last year, I've been really practicing again to try and get this skill into shape, since 3D art is getting boring and illustration's slowly becoming my job. Pixel art makes great unwinding for me. (Or getting mad at shitty indie pixel 'art', as seen by the Interstellaria redo at the end there.)

But now, here we are to the point of the matter, SPACE PANZER.

A friend and myself been working on a game project (in Unity) for the past month (not necessarily the whole of that month haha) and in that time I've been playing around with various things (most of which I'm not even sure will be kept, particularly the placeholder tanks in the work area there.) but I've been doing what I can to make sure we have assets for testing enemies and other stuff.

Using Spriter Pro is helping to make the hardest parts of animating the multi-part structures easy. I'm going to make extensive use of the software for all sorts of cool things.
On the totally opposite side, I'm also going to be doing quite a bit of traditional pixel animation for this as well. in particular, the tanks and human vehicles will be rotoscoped by hand to achieve a good swath of the frames. (which is why the test tank sprite is so ugly. it's the first thing i made!) However, I'm generally making all alien craft by hand unless it's absolutely necessary to do otherwise. I'm sure there will be a few that will be too large or too complicated to animate without some sort of guide!

Please let me know what you think of any of the sprites Im' currently working on! I'd greatly appreciate the guidance, especially since I've been so out of practice!
