Pixel Art / Help With Metallic Stream Overlay

So I am working on a stream overlay and this is what I have:


The left and right side are different versions.
I want it to look interesting/good while also allowing the text to be easily readable. The text is black for reference but I can change it's color.
I'm having trouble making it look properly shiny and interesting.
Please feel free to give critique and advice, thanks.

Hey, so I have to do an essay for language arts, and I wanted to do it on the history and integration of pixel art in the past and today. I know I have seen some good forum posts, websites, and other things, but I don't have them saved and can't seem to find them.

So, if you could, can you post some good sources for pixel art history and discussion about pixel art as a modern art form?

Pixel Art / Pixel Joint challenge entry [C+C]

Hi everyone,

So, I am doing the Pixel Joint challenge of the week, and I wanted some critique on my entry in-progress. The challenge is to create an original character and at least 2 alternate palettes or costumes for it. Here is what I have created:


So, a couple of things. First I want to eventually not make the variations just color, so for example, make the green robot made of plant material, but still follow the base. Second, I am using the nes palette so, yeah. Also, I don't want to use the same color twice for the different variations, but I will if I feel it looks better. All help is appreciated!

I have about 1&1/2 years of experience, and I am a freshman in high school. I have not done anything serious yet, I have only messed around with stuff on my ipod and computer. I would also like to inform you that I recently had to reset my ipod, so I lost alot of animations and art that I had done. Most of this stuff is stuff from a while ago. I might be open for commissions, not sure yet.

Pixel Art / Another tree thread about my trees.

So, I have been trying to figure out trees for a while now, and I think I finally got it. My brother says the trunk looks weird, but I don't really see it. Also, is there a way that I could further detail the leaves, I tried, but it just made them look weird.Please tell me what you think, or any edits are great. Thank you!

I made this little scene but I can't think of what I could do for the back ground(Sky) and the sand also looks a bit weird. Any help would be appreciated.
