Pixel Art / [WIP] Portrait. I need help with the hair
« on: June 13, 2020, 09:43:50 pm »
Hello there!

I'm working on a new portrait, and I always have a hard time with rendering the hair.

It is supposed to be a side ponytail 80's style and bangs, but I don't think that the bangs are very readable.

Hi there!

I'm working on a poster for decorating my new home!

I would like for you to critique it, and point some things you think can be improved.

From my point of view, the weaker part of the image, at the moment, is the "alien" thingy in between the thitghts, it is supposed to be a facehugger-like creature, but I am not sure if it can be read very well, also, I don't know how to make it better ???.

I was thinking in give it a "retro screen" feel also, with a finish like this:

Any thoghts are welcome!

Hi there!

Recently I'm working on a piece that I'm liking a lot so far, but I'm kind of stuck trying to add some depth to the neon lights in the top part of it. I already added some reflections and highlights, which I like, but I also want to add a general glow to them.

This is my "best" attempt, which I don't like a lot:

I'm also attaching a version of the picture without the glow just in case someone wants to play a little bit with it and make some edits  ;D

I will appreciate any tips and tricks that you guys have to glow up those cute neons!

Pixel Art / [WIP] Stealth walkcycle
« on: January 28, 2017, 10:11:22 pm »
Hi there.

I been working on a walk cycle for my young thief, but I have trouble especially with the legs.

It is supposed to be in isometric view, and I think I'm doing something weird with her anatomy. Any help will be appreciated.

Pixel Art / [C+C] Pixel self portrait
« on: January 03, 2017, 09:35:14 am »
Hi there!  :)

I've have abandoned pixel art for almost a year, and I'm recently going back to it, because I always fall in love with it again.

Now I'm working on a self portrait:

I'm struggling especially with two elements.

The first one is the mouth, I think the darkest pixels on the left are not working quite good, but can't figure out how to fix it without changing the general gesture.

The second one is the white outline, I don't hate it, but don't like it neither. The problem is that without outline the character blends with the background, but I really want to keep that background (it is intended to be kind of a computer terminal, that's why is so dark)

All criticism is welcome. I hope to see you often from now on.

Pixel Art / [WIP][C+C] Self Portrait
« on: October 14, 2015, 09:53:29 pm »
Hi there!

Today I've been working in a little self portrait (I don't have a image reference) just as an exercise and for fun. This is what I have so far.

I have centered for the moment in shapes and volumes. Any tip or criticism you have is far wellcome.

Pixel Art / [WIP][C+C] Project LockPicking
« on: September 16, 2015, 03:45:05 pm »
Hi there again!

I'm immersed in a tiny (for the moment) personal project, specifically, I'm starting to develop a minigame and I want to use pixel art graphics.

For the moment the interface will be a static element (a lock) and all the gameplay will be concentrated in one of the sides (the other object sides will be mostly decorative). The thing is that I want to use some kind of isometric perspective, but I want the "object's main side" to be highlighted and to have more presence in the screen. So, in order to achieve that, I though it could be interesting to make the graphics in an "slightly rotated" isometric perspective, and here is my best attempt (it's just a cube for the moment, just to get a general idea about if it is working or not)

I think it can works... but when I put more than one cube together a few issues pop out. I thought in changing the central edge, adding 1 pixel more to the left side, but I see something weird with that solution, I feel it's not right.

If any of you have some idea about this subject I will be glad to hear it  ;D

(I've been looking for perspective pixel art tutorials but they all focus on more classical and popular perspectives)

Pixel Art / [WIP][C+C] Luna sketch
« on: August 11, 2015, 07:55:41 am »
Hi

I introduce you Luna, from Dota2.

It's just a sketch for the moment. I wanted the main character to be spaguetti style, but I'm not sure if it's working well with the cat's style she is riding and I really don't know how it could be better (I'm not used to paint or draw animals)

I don't wanna go further with the piece until the design is consistent and appropriate, It's a special piece for me because it's for a gift, so I appreciate any help you could provide.

Pixel Art / [C+C] First Character Sprite
« on: July 30, 2015, 11:07:25 am »
Hi all!

This is my first post here, I'm starting also with this all stuff of pixel art.

I've been reading a lot about the theory and it's time for some action, so I want to share with you one of my very first pixel pieces so you can give some feedback, if you want to...  :)

I'm pretty proud of the result (keeping in mind that I'm noob at this) and I really want to improve my skills. My intention was to keep the count of the colors low, and my greater concern is if maybe they need some more contrast and maybe the outlines should be lighter.

Thanks in advance!  :) :)
