Pixel Art / Run cycle.
« on: March 16, 2016, 06:21:34 pm »
Pretty standard run cycle.
Looking for critique.

As a side note, should I add the swishy thingy to the legs. Here is an example of what I mean by PixelPileDriver:

Yo, revisiting an old project with a fresh perspective. Some of you might know where this sprite is derived from.

Just want crit on perspective/position. Lemme know if you spot any irregularities.
Draw to imitate a 45 degree angle of view from the top.
(Like if you are on a ladder looking down on someone at approximately 45 degrees)

Pixel Art / Line weight variation comp. :O
« on: July 14, 2015, 06:33:57 pm »
I haven't done tits in awhile so I thought I'd put something together.

Not really look for critique at this point, just wanted a place to jot down my thoughts. Of course critique is always welcome, especially if you see some glaring problem I've gone blind too.

The idea behind the composition is to mess around with line weight variation in pixel art. Something I've not seen at in pixel art aside from some stuff PixelPileDriver shared with me a few months ago. (So if you know of any please share.)

Everything is still pretty rough. I've found myself using a combination of line art and blobs in my workflow lately. Kinda interesting to see how that has all evolved.

Harley was done without a reference, I used a ref for batman though, as I had a heck of a time trying to get that position down.
Huge possibility I'll scale this image up to really take advantage of line weight.

Also don't mind the color count, I forgot to turn off AA for selection and scaling so I've got a lot of random colors I need to clean up

First of many Edits:
Changes to Harley

Horribly done, but its a start. The actual walk cycle I used was my own attempt at blender animation, thus the walk cycle at its core is flawed.
So any tips references for a walk cycle like this would be much appreciated.

Let er rip folks.

Edit:
Should note this was done in GraphicsGale, not sure how onions skinning and transparency works. Once I find I figure that out thing should go a lot smoother

Pixel Art Feature Chest / GR#232 - Desert Magician - Posture
« on: December 11, 2014, 02:05:27 am »
I feel like its been forever since I've last submitted a picture for some C+C.

Anyway, this was formerly my secret santa gift to someone. But this has evolved into a huge learning experience for me so I'd rather make the most of it, and use what I've learned for my current/new secret santa project.

I've made a lot of changes thanks to Arachne who was kinda enough to allow me to PM him/her.

Anyway, my biggest issue is with the fabric for her skirt, i'm having a real hard time getting things to turn out my way, and I can't seem to find a reference that uses this size or has that amount of fabric.

But any C+C would be greatly appreciated.

So you know, this is a desert sorceress from Dark Souls 2

Title kinda says it all, but to be more specific, I have a slight anatomy problem that I need help with. But I don't know how about getting around to getting help without revealing anything to whomever I'm doing the secret santa for...Aside from, of course just randomly PMing a bunch of folks, but I don't wanna seem rude or intrusive.

Pixel Art Feature Chest / GR#208 - Octopus Girl - Anatomy

Yo, working on some stuff. One thing that has evaded me are tips for doing fingers at a fairly low resolution.
i.e ala this size:

Ignoring some of the other stuff I need to clean up, the major problem i'm having is getting a decent looking set of hands going on. Or at least an impression of such, looking around I can't find many examples or even tutorials.

[EDIT]
Re-reading this I decided more context would be needed. I drew the outline of the character using this pose on posemaniacs.com
The inspiration for the color of the skin, the head and a few other things comes from images of the blanket octopus.
I'm trying to get the hands splayed out in such a way that part of the "cape" from the blanket octopus is attached to the pinky and the back of the arms, and flows out or down.

Pixel Art / [WIP]Knight
« on: July 22, 2014, 12:21:19 am »
Working on a knight character, that I would like to hopefully animate.
It has some obvious problems, and not so obvious problems.
But I'm at a point now where a second or multiple pairs of eyes would be beneficial.
So please tell me what you think!

Pixel Art / Hello again, and help + C&C
« on: April 16, 2014, 11:45:41 pm »
Hello, first I'd like to thank everyone that gave me help with that dragon I was working on. I wanted to let you all know that I did read through and follow your advice as best as I was able.
I used that dragon to really test the upper limits of my abilities. That project has been put on the back-burner as I try to get the basics. Which brings me to my latest project. Overall i'm happy with it, I used it as a bit of an anatomy study as well as a light source study.
But I realized I don't know of any good techniques to imply facial detail on a sprite this small. Note that the current face was just something drawn out of frustration.
