Pixel Art / Professor walking
« on: May 29, 2009, 09:39:49 pm »
I'm working on a set of characters and this is supposed to be a teenager at the arcade academy.

I think the run cycle is pretty clear but it's like he/she's moving too slow in-game.
Do I have too many frames or is it that I need to bump up the frame rate (I've got 25 fps right now)

Something is wrong with the animation but I can't see it myself.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Explosion
« on: August 01, 2008, 08:40:54 am »
I'm working on an explosion and need some feedback.
I've looked around at different explosions both real and from different games and this is what I've observed.
I specifically looked at an explosion from this one game but I can't find the reference again.
I'll post it here as soon as I can find it.

(sorry if I state obvious things here)

1. In most games the blast seems to disappear from top to bottom while the some travels the other way.
2. First the blast is bright then it cools down to red and black.
3. Smoke has one color so it doesn't shift in color or tone out, it just disappears.
4. Expand -> Contract -> Evaporate

Here's my best so far...

Edit:

And here's the reference from the game I was talking about: http://www.forsakenguild.com/sprites/Monster_Sprites/Explosion.png

Pixel Art / [WIP] Arcade Academy
« on: July 03, 2007, 05:54:22 pm »
I'm greatful for all C&C I can get. Everything is WIP.

IDEA:
Arcade Academy is going to be a game where you play as young students of a video game hero school.

FORM:
All the teachers are former video game characters and classes you attend are in the form of arcade style mini games. The main part of the game however takes place in platform mode as seen by the sprites below. The students parents all are highly respected game protagonists from all kinds of different games which also serve as harder to reach levels. There's also a rival schools that you interact with.
