Pixel Art / tanks animation (3D pixelart)
« on: October 25, 2007, 09:36:08 pm »
Few 16 color 3D tanks i made in my free time, feel free to comment. I only made the turret turning motion to see how it will turn out(:P), i wasn't interested in shot anim.

General Discussion / a question for people using pro motion
« on: September 12, 2007, 09:43:08 am »
Hi, i want to learn pro motion, but it is really complicated, are there some video tutorials, or normal tutorials showing only the essential things like reseting the pallete, preparing your images, and such?

Pixel Art / shooter - game character
« on: July 08, 2007, 09:17:10 am »
My plan is to make a character with a gun(or more guns), that will:

-stand
-run
-jump
-double jump
-duck
-shot weapon 1
-shot weapon 2
-die
------------------------

I will make this character by creating silhouettes in 3D, and rendering them for every animation and then painting them with details. Is this a good approach, or does your experience led you to different approach? its my first attempt at something like that, and i want to avoid major mistakes.

PS: i may be off for a few days so this thread will drop down to the bottom , but as soon as i'm back i will post updates.

I'm a former enthusiast of a time saving technique for animation, which is 3D animation rendered to a sprite. Recently i found out that animating smaller sprites is better done by hand, that is why i would like to ask you people, how do you animate and what program do you use for animating your character?

also, did you came to some conclusions while animating, any hints that came from your progress that would help a beginner switch to animating by hand?

thanks for any tips that you will share. i really appreciate it. :y:

Pixel Art / sword slash + explosion
« on: July 03, 2007, 10:15:37 pm »
here's a WIP of my sword slash, he glows on purpose, and his sword goes to his other hand for purpose too.

8 colors

ok, so here's pretty much, the "nearly" final version of my knight.

and here's his first animation attempt

(second animation)   edit->->

For now, I dont want to follow my shiluette... why?

I spent hours watching pixelart from games like castlevania, and this is the conclusion i came up with. Following my though about animating pixelart equals massive redrawing :( and i see from other people's work that you can make animations with nearly no effort at all, by knowing which parts to move, think ahead about the structure of animation and what small areas to redraw. Those animations look really great. but i guess you just have to get to that level of making compicated things, simple...

here's a wip of the knight

here is his finished animation

General Discussion / fat guy with a blue bandana doing a backflip
« on: May 23, 2007, 12:42:22 pm »
If you have flash plugin installed you can right-click on the animation and zoom it in to see the pixels more closely, the flash conversion messed up my pixels a bit... does anyone know what is the best program to compile multiple jpg or BMP images into an animating GIF file? thanks
