General Discussion / What did you do?
« on: August 31, 2006, 10:32:58 am »
As you may or may not know, I am starting up pixelling again, and needed some input from the great people of Pixelopolis.

I was wondering what I should focus more on while getting into pixel art to develop my skills. I have started doing colouring first, because lineart is my weak point. This being said, I know that I should probably be working on my lineart skills, but it seems that everytime I try, the work comes out completely different to what I had intended and I end up getting angry and inserting a grenade into my PC and exploding it. Alright, maybe not to that extent, but it is frustrating.

So, what did you start off with? Did you do anything in particular, or did you just do pixelling in general? And where do you think would be the best place to start?

Thanks for your time!

Pixel Art / Starting anew
« on: August 21, 2006, 12:01:00 pm »
Hehe, there must be a million of these threads that I have made about starting pixelling again.... but this time (hopefully), I shall continue.

I am starting again focusing on my colouring skills first, and then will move on to lineart as I develop my skills more. So, I have chosen one of SplatPixel's linearts to work on (love his work). I have some basic knowledge of pixelling, as I have been doing it on and off for a few years now, mostly off.

Please, detailed crits on how to improve because I really would like to get better at this.

Pixel Art / First pixel piece
« on: March 07, 2006, 06:17:25 am »
Hello all, I am not new here, but I am fairly new to pixel art. I used to do horrible interpretations, and now am getting back into pixelling, and I hope to improve my skills a lot more. This piece is based off of Kazuya's platform tiles tutorial. I think it turned out pretty well, for a nooby :P C & C please.

Oh, and I know it is almost exact to Kazuya's piece, but I can't do lineart very well....

General Discussion / Transparency with GG
« on: February 13, 2006, 09:56:37 am »
I use TGF for practically all of my spriting, but I need another program to export the pictures to, and I use Graphics Gale. I was wondering if any of you could give me or link me to a tutorial on how to make pictures transparent in Graphics Gale.

Thanks.
