Pixel Art / Stan's Dump
« on: May 31, 2007, 07:22:59 am »
oooehhh, I've decided to try and improve my tile making skills as well as my ability to make different textures. I figured I'd start with grass as it's usually pretty hard to make look really good on tiles period. :D

Pixel Art / Little Harder Than I Thought
« on: May 29, 2007, 04:06:13 am »

Hoi, so I started to make a character sort of sprite today, fighter sprite if you will for practice and it's something that really made me start pixeling in the first place! But the shading makes me want to go nuts. I've been trying for about an hour now to lay down some decent base shading and get some nice shadows and details into the pants but it's driving me crazy as it all keeps coming out like crap. Some serious crits would be helpful right now, so lay it on me! :P :'(

Pixel Art / Plants, Plants, Plants...
« on: May 27, 2007, 02:56:06 am »
So, I've started a series of plants I've wanted to make for a while now. This is the first one and I was hoping to get some crits on it! I know it could be loads better, I've tried hue shifting but maybe just applied it in the wrong places!

Pixel Art / [WIP] Crap :(
« on: May 20, 2007, 12:23:42 am »
Well, I've been trying to work with some hueshifts and I think it's going somewhat well, so I tried three different shades, and then one style with an extra dark green and one without a some grass I was working on.

I know the grass definitely needs major works and I'm still working on it. But what I'm really worried about is the hue shifting and whether it's looking good or terrible.

Tell me what you guys think.

Pixel Art / Iso Fun? Oh, boy....
« on: May 17, 2007, 04:42:44 am »
Tried it. Loved it.  :D Iso art is incredibly fun and just looks so amazing once you've done someting decently worthwhile. So I figured I'd try to make an isometric sprite...wrong! My outline looks a bit weird and I was wondering if I was on the right pathway towards getting that isometric look and feel?

Alot of inspiration for the standing position came from Adarias sprites for Partisans.

General Discussion / Somewhat Bored...
« on: May 16, 2007, 11:46:01 pm »
Hey, fellas. I've just been a bit bored lately with nothing to work on or anything like that...soooo...I was wondering if anyone wanted to work on like a small game project or something with me for the fun of it, as I've had absolutely nothing to do lately and just alot of time.  :D It would be good for experience and entertainment I suppose.

So you know, if you want to work on something just contact me through a pm or something.

General Discussion / Isometric Art?
« on: May 14, 2007, 05:40:43 am »
I wanted to practice on some isometric art, thought it'd be fun to do something different for a change. As it were I was having some it possible to create a perfectly even isometric block of land?

Something like 100 x 100?

General Discussion / Pixel Method?
« on: May 14, 2007, 05:37:14 am »
I was just wanting to ask a general question concerning and wanting a few opinions about what sort of method each of you apply to doing different pixel pieces? I've always wondered how certain people come across that wonderfully done piece and how they did it and usually am stumped.

So I was curious as to the steps some of you take in the process to pixeling? :)

Pixel Art / Stan's Dump Of Many Things Which Need Crits
« on: May 05, 2007, 04:35:01 am »
I know I've been going a little overboard with the WIPs  :hehe:  but I've just been pixeling like crazy ya know? So I've been working on this sort of last minute for the weekly challenge on pixel joint. And so far I'm loving my lines and loving my colors, but the design on the right side is giving me a bit of hell and I'm considering chopping it off completely in favor of something simpler and easier on the eyes. I'm going for a sort of keycard kind of look to it.

But the AA I tried on the right side REALLY failed me. :yell:  But please crit it hard so I can make it much, much better. Thanks!

Pixel Art / [WIP] Turtle
« on: May 04, 2007, 10:32:03 pm »
I was working on a turtle between spare times along with my egg, the turtle however has been suffering, while I try to digest thoughts over the egg.  :'( That's beside the point, I can't seem to figure getting a more shapely appearance to the different little things on the shell as well as the shading is terrible imo. Needs abusive C + C
