Pixel Art / Nes Mockup Grass Borders
« on: July 21, 2008, 01:17:38 am »

Grass, mountains, and dirt, all in one BG pallete.  The main reason I'm posting this here is that I'm looking for critique on the grass borders.  I've asked several people if they looked like grass, and they said they would if there was a darker shade around it.  However, in the nes pallete I'm using, I couldn't find a good intermediate shade between the green and the tan that wasn't weird looking or too dark. (But I could of missed some)  And dithering didn't help.  So I'm stuck, not knowing what to do to improve them.

Pixel Art / Tentacles suck
« on: August 25, 2007, 05:36:46 pm »

This is a early WIP of a cthulhu piece I'm working on. (The rest of the body is not shown)  My problem is that I can't figure out a way to shade the tentacles in a pleasing looking way.  Maybe thinning them would help, but I'm not aiming to draw the scary cthulhu.

Pixel Art / Bad placement issue
« on: August 19, 2007, 06:50:47 pm »

I can't ever get this Boss monster's right arm to look correctly place.  The entire pose looks a bit stiff too and it is hard for me to distingish the space between his stomach and the top of his arm (lol very fat).  He is supposed to be slightly leaning to the right in a slight 3/4 view.  I'd like someone to help me with an edit. :)  Is there some sort of drawing procedure that can help me draw a pose correctly the first time?

Pixel Art / [WIP] Constantine

This is my entry for the Idea's of March Pixeljoint contest.  Do you think it has the emperor Constantine's likeness?

Pixel Art / [WIP] Minish Cap People
« on: February 25, 2007, 02:44:48 am »
I started a thread for sprite requests at Zelda gamemaking forum and got bombarded by 40 requests...  The thing that every one wanted was townspeople, so I started on those first. You might notice they have ears and hands cut off because they have to be in 16 by 16 tiles.
Got any good advice for making sideviews? I hate making those for rpg-perspective.

Pixel Art / White hair can be tough
« on: February 04, 2007, 12:07:05 am »
Any ideas on how to make his hair have a greater sense of depth?  And could I use better colors for the hair? (Note: The face's colors were borrowed from one of St0ven's tutorials)

Pixel Art / Valmanway
« on: January 23, 2007, 12:07:21 am »
I was bored today and I hadn't pixel pixeled in a week, so I made my version of the Valmanway from the Castlevania series and some borders for my game. (Ya know, the sword that strikes super fast?)

I couldn't get the "flames" to be effective on the other side, so I took them out.  Comments?

Pixel Art / WIP- Warrior Robot
« on: January 06, 2007, 01:53:45 am »

Latest thing I've been working on; a sprite request by my friend.  I can't seem to get the hands right.  I meant for the fingers to look like they are hanging, slightly curved.  But it just turned out flat.  Maybe a fist would look better?

BTW, he is meant to have no elbows. ;D

EDIT: Progress Update..

General Discussion / Hue Shifts

Can anyone explain to me what a hue shift's purpose is and show me an example? :)

Thanks in advance.
