Pixel Art / [WIP] The Galaxy Forge
« on: April 24, 2010, 08:08:03 am »
For the sake of argument, let's just say that the blue sphere thing is the Earth and it's illuminating the space station from below (originally it was the Earth graphic from Chrono Trigger, but I don't think it'd be welcomed warmly if I decided to show that in it as well. There's also the moon in the background but I erased that graphic for this occasion as well). I realize I haven't been here for a while and most likely didn't improve worth jack, but.. yeah.
It's not the 'orbs' of the station themselves that are bothering me, although they could have been done far better, it's the 'wings' themselves which are most troublesome.
If it seems familiar to a certain Star Wars game's space station, then that's pretty much the inspiration.

It's also nice seeing all these professional pixels here again though. You guys rock. :)

Pixel Art / [WIP] Tiny work.
« on: July 10, 2008, 12:12:10 am »
Hey again, after all this time, I guess.. Sorry for disappearing. But I return and am still seeking for guidance.
Tiny note, is that I don't want this pose to exactly be any more dynamic. If you honestly wish to give me an example, I'll be happy, since I know about dynamic poses livening up the piece more, as was with the case of my work on Jalie.
I'm having a tiny bit of trouble here on how to tweak the legs and how else I could make this look better. I could go on further, but I wanna get the pose down right before I start filling in any details. Any ideas? (The avatar is outdated by a long shot. I just keep it there as-is.)
I know there is something wrong with his legs, but I want to explain. The character is to have about really defined legs since he's a long time runner, but otherwise he isn't built much in the upper regions. The feet also are a bit troublesome to me, but even after the good ol' mirror trick, I still couldn't find the way to tweak the legs to look better.

Pixel Art / [WIP] [Nudity] Jalie
« on: December 10, 2007, 04:13:53 pm »
Okay, the low down on this sprite is that she's more or less a hybrid of the human and Aqrillic (An underwater type.) species, genes spread out 50/50. This explains why she might miss the nose, ears (And as it seems now, the chin, which was unintentionally), which is characteristic of the Aqrillic ones in that they have no nose, no irises and no ears, relying on tiny slits that have great sensors. (They're not excuses, honestly.)
Now I see this as partially done, but I still guess I could use any help on it. I'm not sure if I have to fully reform the character, but if it has to go that way, I'll see. The character's mostly nude due to the fact that she's, well, a nudist. Her more private parts are concealed and only appear during certain times, which would be a bit to embarrassing to disclose on such a forum. (I was toying around with the text a bit, but, meh. I, however, did work on a gray background before, before moving down to black so I could apply the selout. Sorry Helm. >_>; )

Guns away, fellas. ><

Pixel Art / General Maximus Muller's Mech
« on: August 13, 2007, 06:25:28 pm »
First of all, sorry for the amount of threads and projects I never finished. (Largely loss of attention. I blame it on a syndrome I have but regardless.)
Right now I'm working on a mech that's greatly inspired by the Metal Slug series (Can't wait to play it.), directly down to using a sprite's pallete (I'm sorry.) for it. I got nice results, however, I want your opinion what else I could do with it or what I should fix on, I originally intended it to be a sort of walker mech, but I never got the legs to look right so I made it into a sort of floater mech. However, the cockpit is largely not how I imagined it but it should do atleast.

If all goes to worst, I might have to redesign it. Which troubles me, making detail on the metal is rather difficult, so it won't look plain. (Which is one part I hate.)

Pixel Art / [WIP] Dragon
« on: July 21, 2007, 01:31:33 pm »
As with my previous threads, you guys know I am very bad at actually paying attention or utilizing criticism. However, I need your help urgently on this one (I don't care much about the anatomy, he looks goofy because he still is in his baby ages. I'll fix his furthest hand however.):

The scales bother me, I've looked and rummaged through many pics and I can't seem to get them right, as is the case with his closest foot, something seems odd about it due to the scales attempt. Anybody willing to help? (I can understand if not.)

Pixel Art / C64 Style test.
« on: April 06, 2007, 08:11:33 pm »
I recently downloaded and found Project One to be rather fun (except for some annoying problems (like when there's a 'tile space' that has 3 colors but registers as 4, disallowing me to edit it until I do so some odd change), so I did a small mockup on the bottom (Then I turned out highres, which was a mistake..), after that, I worked on the female face. This is my first time at such an odd style, let me know what you guys think of it?

That, and it was a bit of a jealousy thing after I saw Ptoing's own works (although I know, I know. :P), so it's not really done yet, but I dunno how to go on from here. And I must say the style is pretty fun too. ;D

EDIT: Updated partially.

Pixel Art / Vyrkarr - Ending Scene
« on: March 18, 2007, 11:51:25 am »
Incase you ask, no, 'Vyrkarr' is not a game, he's one of my (many) characters, tied directly to the one I represent myself with most. The whole artwork piece took about two days to make (Inspiration came from AbyssWolf from DA), and I was able to atleast use the Bubbly/Groady shading to some extents.

Although I already call this final, what are your comments on it? And yes, I realise the cliff looks a tad bit screwy, and the BG was already made for a tileset (Myrad Park), sans the clouds which used various Dither options for the brush in PMotion.

I just recalled, the runic sword looks odd because it was first made horizontally, then rotated around and fixed somewhat. That's why the odd quality of it, that, and I'm still gonna try and study cloth effects at any chance I can for such works.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Several projects.
« on: January 13, 2007, 06:56:42 pm »

My other work, I decided to try out how much I know and could do on 2d backgrounds/foregrounds. The ground inspiration (with the rocks and all) came from a website. I can't really remember which. Had some Ogre pixel art on it.. The two statues there were just something I was toying around with, they're not ACTUAL part of the tileset though.

One of my projects, although I'm nearing completion, I decided to showcase one of my works (The others aren't on the level of you guys. ^_^; ) here for the first time ever. You guys are pretty damn awesome, and since you are experienced enough, you could criticise or comment on this work, and/or give suggestions what I could add to it. (I'll edit it when I get to it, 'k? Oo; )

The reference pic is this one, and I got permission from the artist to show it:

The picture is a bit big so I don't think I'll post it in IMG tags.
